NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams

Very cool. Nice to hear that someone who delivers the news in such a straightforward, conservative fashion has a RxR side. Can't imagine Chancellor or Cronkite digging stuff like this! And hasn't Brokaw been spotted trolling the lots at Dead shows back in the day? -
Nice parody!

I told you already that I'm married and my wife reads this board.

Have a great birthday, Jesse!! And many thanks for all you do - spreading the good word of The Wilco.

Remember the beam? Damn, that thing scorched me so many times. And the xylophone-type instrument...Bill on talking drum or something similar, while Mick was doing the color. So tribal. '80-'85 was my favorite period for the drums.
-
Warren sounds pretty damn fluid here.

"Eyes" in a venue like The Gorge would HAVE to be so sweet.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Set 2 could be a guest fest.

I prefer Aiko. Michelle likes Women R Smarter better. Battle of the sexes!
-
I got a happy wife here. Mystic is one of her favorite tunes of all time.

I always used to wish for "started out on heineken" when this one would come around. Friggin' Lesh was the guy who got me into that shit back in the '80s - "Phil drinks 'em...they MUST be good!".
-
I agree. That Rhodes sound during the Star was very reminiscent of '74.

This is a great jam out of Crazy Fingers. For some reason, this song never reached it's potential with me when I caught it live with Jerry. The main reason being they never ripped up this part of the song the way it's being done right now! DARK STAR!

Hey dudes. I'm here - finally. Two of my dear old friends that I have not seen in 6 months at least decided to come to town. These guys did Dead tours with me for 15 years. Synchronicity!

Oh man. I LOVES me some Viola Lee! So much that I named my first basset Viola Lee.

I think the show starts at 3:30 PST, so that's not a lot of time for the two opening bands. And yes, I think only the Dead is being broadcast.

Deadnet says 10:30 PM EST.

Hey Aman, are you gonna be around for the broacast tonight? Just curious.

The B-side of Pinball Wizard, right? I had that 45 as a ute. I like the tune - great riffing from Pete, kind of a frenzied blues.

Although I totally disagree with the OP it WAS an nice, well thought out post. My hope is that the band follows a more Dead-like trajectory - just going out and being a working live band for years and years and years to come. Gigs are their bread and butter. I can't imagine some scenario where they sell a zillion copies of a record and make a decision to quit touring.

This movie seems to be getting great reviews. I've watched the trailer, and it looks very compelling. I look forward to seeing this.

Hope you have a super fantastical birthday, Crow Daddy! Now go crank up some Doug Sahm.

I don't know if there is an album of new NRPS material coming out, but they do have a new archival release (12/31/77, Winterland, opening for the GD). I too wish Dawson was in on the NRPS these days - his voice was an integral part of their sound. NRPS is the band most responsible for turning me onto "alt-country" (although that term wasn't used back then) music. From there I went into old-school 'outlaw' stuff, and never turned back. Thanks, David, John, and Jer especially.
