  1. I hear you and I believe this is the crux of the suspension and fine (though MLB did state that they thought he intentionally threw near Abreu's head). Although Abreu ran his mouth and gestured a 'wtf/come on" type thing, Beckett did move towards home and off the mound. Also, Scioscia was not fined for approaching Beckett/the mound. Or Speir for that matter. Just seems a little one-sided and excessive, is all. It's hard to imagine Beckett trying to aim at Abreu's head on an interrupted pitch as he turns to face and throw while already in motion, too.
  2. Beckett suspended for 6 games and fined for allegedly throwing at Abreu's head the other night. If anyone saw this, Abreu had called time out in the middle of Beckett's wind up and Beckett let the ball sail (as he's supposed to do). Also cited were "aggressive actions" by Beckett, I'm assuming for Beckett coming off the mound after Abreu threw his arms up and started jawing at Beckett: http://www.seattlepi.com/baseball/2010ap_b...uspensions.html
  3. I disagree. I think the kerchief, shirt, and jacket match up fairly smartly (though the buttons on the shirt kind of distract from the hair....).
  4. Brief clip of the Jack Straw: http://vimeo.com/4127097
  5. Great producing aside, he's still a murderer at the end of the day.
  6. Sounds decent enough to me (regardless of the tepid recording- sounds muddy and distant). I think Warren fits in pretty well. It's nothing close to the real deal but i don't think that's what they're going for, anyway. I take it for what it is I guess: A loose framework to cover sound great tunes. I'm betting it sounded pretty decent live and i'm looking forward to catching them in a month. Don't think I'll be touring anytime soon, though.
  7. Fidrych was a character. There was certainly a lot of hype around him and he was fun to watch pitch. Oddly, that '76 season was his only decent season. He tore his rotator cuff the following season and that was pretty much the end of his career. Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle today....
  8. And the experience at the show is the point, so that's great that those Alpines ring true with you. I had an absolute blast out there (even with the insanely baking heat), too. I was living in VA at the time of the Warlocks shows and (IIRC) you could only purchase tix at box offices in VA. I picked up a bunch for out of state pals and it was an amazing two days of shows. Electricity was apparent and in the air both outside and inside the shows.
  9. I was at the Alpine run in '88 and nothing really jumps out at me right now. They were solid and were breaking out tunes (I know "Foolish" was a first-timer that first night) but besides solid sets/playing I can't really recall anything overly special about them. Just my take, of course. I liked Buckeye right after the Alpines and the Oxford shows excellent, too. That Louisville show was nice, too. I remember the second set opener was "Louie, Louie" and the "Stella Blue" stands out (in my hazy recollection). For me I'd have to include both "Formerly The Warlocks" shows from Hampton in '89,
  10. I use those resources, too, A-man. Not very often, but... While there are shows that are highly touted by the majority (and I generally agree with the assessments) I would probably have a few in my top 10 that aren't on a lot of those lists due to some quirk that suits me, etc. Could be interesting, nonetheless.
  11. "Y'all" has been in use since colonial times, actually. Perfectly legit.
  12. Isn't the best show always the next show (at least back in the day...)? I like this idea. It'd be interesting (challenging, too) to try and pare down the enormous catalog of shows to a top ten. It'd also be interesting to list top 5 shows attended....
  13. Morgan's a d-bag. Sorry. Anyone? A week in?
  14. WTF is Pitbull and Flo Rida? Minaya will never get fired. Willie will get fired twice before that happens.
  15. "ornery" A lot of folks pronounce it "ah-ner-ee."
  16. I was at the Hartford shows, as well (grew up a 1/2 hr. south of there) I think they sound very tight in a loose way, if you know what I mean. Vocally- eh. People bitch about Phil's voice sometimes but I get a kick out of it. 70 yr. old guy and all.... Weir I can take and Warren has that whiskey-soaked edge to it. No complaints from me on the vocals but we'll see. There's a Sox bar not far from my house in Denver. We won't get the Dead tunes, though....
  17. I really enjoy listening to games on the radio, too. If I'm outdoors or in a car. If it's on t.v. and I'm inside I can't not watch it.
  18. Three of my favorite things. Call me next time....
  19. I have one (two, actually) of a dock that has been compared to being as good/near as good as comparable Bose docks. I'm spacing the name right now (it'll come to me) but it cost $70 on ebay (and I found them on sale for $30 last Xmas in some media outlet store) as compared to the $300 Bose. I love the sound it puts out. ed. Athena iVoice. Doesn't play/charge the new gen Nanos, though.
  20. It's your standard bleached-anus-with-a-marble pic, no?
  21. Thanks calvino. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but in addition to the album title written on the bottom, it's written into the skeleton's body (with the eggs as "o"s, too. I always thought that was cool.
  22. Can't upload right now, but GD's Aoxomoxoa always does it for me.
  23. Cheers, owl! :badger :badger :badger :badger :badger
  24. The IP thing works. If you know someone with an address in the market you want you can go that route, too. Extra Innings does the black out for local games, too. I don't watch a lot of Rockies games but they're on the local channel anyway. The FOX Saturday blackouts are what pisses me off, though. Can't watch Sox games on most Saturdays if they coincide with the FOX game(s). How much is the mlb.tv and is it annoying having to sit at a computer to watch the games? I'm assuming not for those that get it but I couldn't do it, especially with the EI available.
