The Official Bob Dylan Thread
Gobias Industries replied to RainDogToo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I have followed a similar arc when listening through the album multiple times. This is excellent. It is what it is, aka great. I think the album would be much spookier/better with TOOM production values (it would have pushed this album from great to un-fucking-believable), but A. one can't ask for everything and B. it wouldn't change my opinion of the album too much...it's still good. An album is a good album regardless of production values (I suppose not entirely but to a great extent). -

I am impressed with these long-ass setlists Sir McCartney dishes out every night. Maybe I'm Amazed should be played every night for him, in my opinion. Shame that it's not on there. I also love the tributes for John and George (A Day In the Life/Give Peace A Chance and Something). My question is how does "I've Got A Feeling" work? Does Paul sing John's "Everybody had a hard year" lines?

If I remember this set caused quite a controversy:

Todd Boeckman is trying out with teh Bungles? Inneresting... Generally I have read that most critics give the Packers and the Eagles the highest marks for draft day stuff. The lowest? Who else would you expect? The Raiders...

Again. Heart-wrenching record.

Grabbed this and listening now...it's surprisingly mellow. I like it. Thanks to the sender!

Does anyone want to hook me up with the new Son Volt? Thanks in advance

Pass on Beanie? FOR REALLSSSSSSSSS?!?!?!?!?!?!

It has been almost impossible to keep up with the Browns' trading today. I thought they were going to draft at #19, but poof? Traded to the Eagles. Absurd.
-
Broncos drafted Moreno this early? Really?

The Purple Album?
-
Yup. There's a reason why the Raiders have been in the cellar for sooooooooo long. Who expected Raji and Crabtree to fall this far? Not me. ed: The Jets gave up the 17th and 52nd picks, quarterback Brett Ratliff, defensive end Kenyon Coleman and safety Abram Elam. So yeah, I think the Browns kind of made off like thieves. We get the DE we needed, plus a safety that gives us some better D. Now we can draft elsewhere. I don't know why Ratliff is in there, he seems like filler.
-
So the Jets moved up to 5 and grabbed Sanchez. I think the Browns came out on top of this one (drafting is good), but it really depends on who the Jets sent over in addition to the extra second-round pick and the first-round swap.

Flaming Lips tune is Official Oklahoma Rock Song

Yeah. I don't understand why people were freaking out about the hammer and sickle. Communism is dead, bubs, no worries. -
"Classic" albums you just don't get
Gobias Industries replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I would make the argument that the Creek Drank the Cradle is a much better record than OEND, and therefore much more classic then. If the argument that For Emma is a classic holds. I don't think the White Album would be as lovable if it wasn't a hulking behemoth of doom and good old fashioned rock music. -
Opinions? Much more of a plot-oriented episode, but it was pretty good.

Taking the hipsters to school

If society backlashed at the hipsters and started eliminating them, could you call it genocide? -

Can someone hook me up? I'd like something for walking around tomorrow. -
I missed the presale. Does anyone know when the tickets actually go on sale for normal?
-
This early in the season? For reals, it's not even May.

All you Sgt Pepper, Aeroplane, Funeral, Pet Sounds and London Calling haters should go **** yourselves. Not really, but seriously. I could say worse... My 2cents.
