Post inane comments about the new Wilco album

Gives you more cred than Pitchfork, so I'd say it's actually not inane at all. -
RIP Mark Linkous ... of Sparklehorse

Ditto for this guy. Like Mrs. Peel, go through me profile. Many thanks in advance. I am on my second listen, and I really like this record. So naturally I want to listen to this away from a computer and see how it is. -
Bull Black Nova is so edgy that it cut me. There, I said it. It literally cut me, and the wounds are healing. It hurts.

Personally, I think Wilco lost their edge when they kicked out Jay Farrar. Well, you could say they lasted somewhat until Brian Henneman left. ZING!!!

Listening on NPR, I wonder if I can find a copy of it? Hmmmm...

That was a redeemer episode. The cold open was, for once, classic Office. In many ways it was the most traditional Office episode in a long time. You have your prank, classic Dwight, your Michael blunder, and your Jim/Pam moment. So all in all it was good. My faith has been mostly restored. I actually didn't find 30 Rock especially funny. But the Beastie Boys had the best lines.

Massive heart and lung vibes...he'll pull through, no worries

LeBron will likely stay in Cleveland. He's too tied into the fabric of this region. And the allure of establishing a legacy associated with only one place for his whole career is probably too enticing. And to be honest, the Cavs will probably bend over backwards to retain the guy, so it's not like the Cavs will be outbid easily. ...except no one can cancel out or even slow down LeBron in the way that a good defender can slow down Kobe. See Battier's pretty good defensive work this series, and imagine that with a team with a whole lot better defense. Also note that the East actually w

Oh, right. I forgot about that bit. I'm still pissed that they didn't follow through, but I do like that they didn't because it sets up an epic wedding episode. Can you say conflicted feelings?

Conference Finals A. Cavs in 5-6 regardless of who they play. More towards 5 if it's the Cs, and 6 if it's the Magic. B. Lakers over Nuggets in 6, though I would like to see Nuggets over Lakers in 7, which is plausible if the Lakers randomly shut down as they have been doing. NBA Finals A. Cavs in 5-6 regardless. 5 over the Nuggets, 6 over the Lakers. I can see a G7 against the Lakers, but once again, will the Lakers randomly shut down? I don't think the Nuggets have enough firepower to contest down the stretch. Of course, I'm a Cleveland fan, so yeah, blast me for my rosy outlook. Le

This our hour of arms open wide? I dunno, I've been hearing it that way recently.

THat was funny, but it had zero relation to the episode, so it was probably a good cut. I'm putting major pressure on tonight's episode to redeem some of the episodes this past season.

But if you notice, Nels has a lot more room to work with on this record. There\'s less \"solos\" but there are certainly a lot more lines that he has in this one, and especially with the effects and the noise-skronk, which was not on SBS at all. Well, the fact that part of the chord progression is straight lifted up from My Sweet Lord doesn\'t really help. The vibe is probably brighter on \"You Never Know\" than on \"My Sweet Lord,\" but the chord progression is there, and all I can say is that someone better be trying to mash the two together.

Am I the only one that is super-bothered by how much "You Never Know" takes straight up from Harrison's "My Sweet Lord"? "You Never Know" is a great track, but in a sense this song is messed up for me now because it's...so like "My Sweet Lord." I am too lazy to search through this thread, so if this has been discussed already, oops.

I think solace mentioned this before, but yes, I do hear bells (like deep bells a la Can't Stand It) on Wilco (the song). Deeper Down is hot. I love it.

You don't?

Again, then after I'll go back to teh Wilco album to listen again.

Pre Order through Nonesuch or Wilcoworld/Kung Fu

This is a true man dilemma. I have this issue too. I want the CD, the LP, and the shirt, but the tote is threatening my manliness. I might just have to start burping a lot to compensate, I dunno. -
And now, VC has just jumped the shark.
-
Woah there, cowboy. I still think "One Wing" is the best track here.
-
I worked through it today once in headphones. Still haven't given it speaker treatment. Regardless of that, at least in my first run-through A. You Never Know is basically George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" to a freakish degree, and B. I was not the most impressed with the last two tracks, which could have to do with track ordering and all. Otherwise, pretty damn good for a first run-through

You and I is killer. I love Feist's backup on it.
