  1. I thought of this a long time ago. Basically I guess it's supposed to be more like a wake, where you kind of party, because I selected a lot of songs and it's supposed to be my own mini-show. I haven't looked at this in a long time, though. Just copied and pasted it from my "will." 1. The Rolling Stones – You Can’t Always Get What You Want [Let It Bleed] 2. Miles Davis – Flamenco Sketches [Kind of Blue] 3. Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road [born to Run] 4. Paul McCartney – Maybe I’m Amazed [McCartney] 5. Sigur Rós – Starálfur [Ágætis byrjun] 6. The Beach Boys – I Just Wasn’t Made For Th

Knotty Pine To be really honest, I didn't like the opener, Skeletons. For me, there is a clear difference between having music being "weird" because it is and having music that is trying to be "weird." To me, it's a problem t
  3. I've had Dirty Projectors - Knotty Pine and Wilco - Solitaire both running in my head for the last couple of days.
  4. Does someone want to get the PM chain started and put me on it?
  5. Prepping for the show tomorrow, ya know.
  6. Put on your headphones, again and again Conan Conan Conan will love you baby ? Perhaps. I still think it'll be You Never Know. Unless Wilco has Grizzly Bear-esque balls to premier a new song and then promptly get your next appearance cancelled, I don't see any other choice.
  7. Is this a good record? A place to start for Dino Jr.? Perhaps someone send me a...copy, perhaps?
  8. I've been meaning to get a new guitar strap instead of the crummy 5$ yin-yang strap I've had on my acoustic since the dawn of time. Perhaps it's time to pull the trigger. I like John's design the best, though.
  9. I am particularly confused by the photo above, but, uh, whatever.
  10. Big Papi gets a hit thanks to a major blunder...and so does that one guy on the Cubs. Wow, where's the defense?
  11. While I might necessarily be also concerned, I wanted to make a point about the Fed "contributing" to the Depression and so thus cannot be relied on. As an economics major, I naturally have something to say. The Fed "contributed" to the Depression because it didn't implement correct monetary policy: reluctant to tighten money during the booms, and too stingy to loosen money when the Depression started, thus prolonging the Depression as far as it did. With a good board and a sound macroeconomic framework* (neither of which were likely present at that time), the Fed is a reliable resource. I
  12. Again. Who the hell sells their copy back?
  13. In my dark years, I saw them the year before they went on hiatus (I think). Then I got out of my dark years, 4 years ago. I no longer listen to neopunk, and I am a man now for that. In the neopunk genre they were probably at the forefront, but that doesn't mean neopunk is a worthwhile genre to begin with... So while this is nice news to see some dudes get back together and play some tunes, for me the band is nothing to write home about at all. I wouldn't even waste breath to mention it to someone, to be honest.
  14. Yeah, that is true. I'd put Bitte Orca as record of the year, honestly. Miles ahead of Veckatimest to me, par+ compared to Merriweather Post Pavilion.
  15. This morning, when I woke up, Wilco - "Sonny Feeling" was playing in my head.
  16. Golden Smog - 1998.12.05 Irving Plaza, New York, New York
  17. Radiohead - Kid A Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Arcade Fire - Funeral Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago Brian Wilson - SMiLE Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Joanna Newsom - Ys Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca Call it early to put some of those on the top-10 for the decade, but they come really close. No real order to the list, though.
  18. Props to Cliff Lee for a 3-hitter. Good work, man.
  19. Throwing my weight behind this chord progression, if it means anything...
  20. Yeah, the Indians are doing piss-poor (in the AL Central. The AL Central, really?!?!?) and I still feel more sorry for the Mets, if only just for that.
