  1. Wilco and then the Jayhawks? That's worth a million bucks. Too bad there's no way I could have ever, ever gone...
  2. Going to be honest, there has been a lot of good work recently. It's just not in the mainstream anymore. It's no longer Beatles, Stones popular anymore. You're going to have to try to find it to find it. If you don't, then the state of music looks like a load of poo. If you do, you see a lot of good stuff going on already. I mean, shit, look at the good crop this year already, in my order of preference: Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion Wilco - Wilco (the Album) Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest They're all 9.0+ albums, and it's not even halfway th
  3. via NPR stream. Can't wait until this album comes out for reals and they show up in Columbus on the 20th. What a great album.
  4. That's is the Cavs I expected. A bad series just got better.
  5. That track review isn't so much reviewing the song as it is attacking Wilco for being Wilco. Pretty stupid, to be honest. It's like that one Pitchfork review attacking Jim O'Rourke for being Jim O'Rourke, rather than saying "And about this album..."
  6. I like it a lot. I haven't read a novel in so long. The actual freedom to not be grammatically correct confused me greatly, since all I read a lot prior to this were academic articles and textbooks and shit. I know I'll have to reread this when I'm not in a fucking academic mindset right now. Hell, I'm reading an article right now. That's how sad it is.
  7. Aren't you sort of splitting hairs at this point? The people got their jobs back thanks to the factory re-opening, and if that's not having your job saved from the abyss, I'm not sure what is.
  8. I read that and was like "where's the joke?" and then I realized it's a story. Ooooops.
  9. Fact of life: The Cavs don't match up well with the Magic. The Magic aren't necessarily the better team, though obviously with a 3-1 notching (which should theoretically be a 4-0 sweep discounting the LeBron) it looks that way. Another year, right?
  10. Haha, that's actually really awesome. Veckatimest probably is a top 5 of the year for me, but Merriweather Post Pavilion is still top. This Grizzly Bear record and Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix are probably tied / jostling for second, though I could potentially put Wilco (the Album) up there because I love it way too much.
  11. Aside from everything looking all funky, it seems like when you quote posts with links via the [url ] code (space inserted) it seems to break everything up in the quoted post so it's a bunch of code instead of a nice little link. Also I'm pissed that half the smileys are non-functional. But that's a smaller matter, I guess.
  12. Man, 7 runs in the 9th to come back and beat the Rays? I never would have expected that from Cleveland. Woo.
  13. Well, I wrote this for Jay Bennett, you could say: Godspeed my friend as you get to the end to that kingdom in the sky Go board that plane with the ticket you obtain ‘cause it must be your time to fly You’ve won your games and you’ve heard those names and you’ve sat there in defeat But it was never that bad, you had what you had and you never let yourself get beat And you walked those roads, you’ve borne those loads but you never let it get you down And your journey might finally come to an end but you filled it with your sound Godspeed my friend as you get to the end to that kingdom i
  14. I'm pretty sure the whole website has those sorts of fake articles, unless Joe Strummer really did return from the dead to steal an abused guitar, which I would not be surprised of though given that he is a most righteous man.
  15. You know, in some future world, I kind of hoped if I ever got somewhere with whatever music I was doing I could get Jay Bennett to produce something of mine. But now that dream is gone, I guess.
  16. I have listened to the leak very often, but then again I also preordered the shirt/tote/vinyl/CD combo, so I have some rights...am I wrong?
  17. Listening to the The Beatles, and I come on this song. Made me sad and think of Jay Bennett...in many ways it's very fitting. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free. Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly Into the light of the dark black night. Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly Into the light of the dark black night. Blackbird singing in the dea
  18. I think this is a good idea, I'm listening to it right now and it's fantastic. I would gladly pay to see this guy released.
  19. Wilco - 2001.07.04 Grant Park, Chicago, IL Jay's last show with Wilco.
  20. I'm listening to 2001.07.04 and it still feels fucking weird to think that you're gone, Jay. Doesn't seem real, ya know?
  21. FML. What a sad, sad event. God bless your soul, Jay Bennett.
