  1. The response by many forum members whenever Muslim terrorism or Islamic jihadists is mentioned makes me think you guys actually like and follow PC Principal, bro…..
  2. So lets see, Jihadist attack people with guns and pipe bombs ( not used, thankfully). The left tells us not to include all Muslims in our anger ,correctly. However, all legal owners of firearms (millions) are now branded as the problem and you guys go along with that? For the record, I do not own an AR-15 but I have no issues with it. I just do not see the hostility to owning a weapon and yet little hostility directed at people that are the most illiberal on earth and insist on trying to kill us. The story is about Muslim terrorists in America (yet again) killing innocents. I have not hea
  3. Hixter is much more eloquent than me. I agree with everything he has said. Very naïve to believe we can change the mind of jihadists. Unreal that they tell you what they plan to do and you do not believe it but instead, blame the US. Very similar to numerous Jews not believing Hitler even though it was all laid out in a book. 1300 Syrian refugees who support ISIS not a problem? You must be HIgh......
  4. I did not hear a thing that has any credible way of working. He seems utterly clueless. Maybe you guys should read Manchester's second volume on Churchill
  5. Agree with "pointless cyber political bickering". No one is going to have their mind changed and the tone of the forum can get a little hot. Hell, I just look at this when their is nothing new on the other forums. Good to remember why I joined in the first place. Wilco is awesome.
  6. I cannot speak for anyone else. I am an immigrant. I was born in another country. America took me in, allowed me to pursue happiness, a career, education and a decent life. I am forever grateful. I believe we should have compassion and empathy and continue to take in others. I do not believe there should be a religious litmus test. However, I believe one has a right to insist on careful vetting and being cautious. I know of many foreign students denied visas after graduation. I know of families denied immigration after going through the process. Yet they abide by the law. Mass immigration,
  7. This country has never faced the kind of terrorist threat we face now. Different times calls for different tactics. I just do not believe that questioning policy and questioning government assurances, which most of you do when the party in charge is not Democrat, should be labeled as "racist". Childish, non answer and really does nothing to answer legitimate issues.
  8. So wanting to check mass immigration when there is no way to determine background is racist? That is the most absurd argument I have ever heard. Concern about the welfare of your country and your family is racist? Trying to insure that immigrants are not here for jihadi reasons is racist? I call BS on this. Gimme a break. Maybe you need to read that conservative rag, Mother Jones , who considers that rhetoric nuts....
  9. Tell me one law or loophole that would prevent gun violence. And if you say ban and confiscate all guns, do you think a constitutional amendment would even remotely pass? I don't think one can solve the issue. Perhaps one can tackle it by examining years of societal breakdowns, recidivism, downright stupidity. How does one identify the crazy shit that does these things before they happen? Mass shootings capture the media attention but Chicago has that same number gunned down every weekend and one continues to blame the gun instead of the assholes that do the shooting.
  10. My point is that all Presidents,by definition, inherit policies, situations, world events, etc. that they did not create. How they deal with them and their success is how me measure them. Continuing to say that everything was Bush's fault does not solve the problem or absolve the president of criticism or failure.
  11. I get the Bush bashing. His administrations, advisors, etc. screwed it up. On the other hand, who knows what the middle east would be like now. No way to predict. All history is fluid and what a leader inherits, though not his "fault" is his responsibility to deal with effectively. How many people on this board are willing to give Nixon a pass on Vietnam? He did not cause that disaster but he gets destroyed on his conduct all the time. In fact, one could take the middle east issue back to the British after WW 1. They laid the groundwork for a lot of misery today. The point is that Obama
  12. Not really blow away but more than held their own---- Lynyrd Skynyrd opening for the Who in Atlanta, 1973 (74?)....
  13. I think he is fading away....
  14. 1974. Electric Ballroom in Atlanta. Went to see Cowboy, a group out of Macon. Please Be With Me, covered by Clapton, was there most noted song. Played a few songs and then they brought out some "friends", the Allman Brothers! Place was empty before and we were sitting in front of the stage, had our own table .Word got out and it got jammed pretty quickly. During "You Don't Love Me", my friend yelled out "Play All Night" at the appropriate time, matching live at the Fillmore. Gregg looked over, smiled and nodded his head and they literally proceeded to do just that....
  15. PBB influenced every blues band that followed them. They also brought in jazz and Indian influences in their second album. Mike Bloomfield was one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Paul Butterfield was a great harp player and an under appreciated singer. However, I will add that nostalgia and death sometimes make bands greater than they really were. PBB did not have an extensive body of work. Drugs and egos took their toll. Their is always a tendency to elevate the greatness of music that one heard in their youth to near mystical status. Hell, I think The Swinging Medallions should
  16. I find the concept of a Hall of Fame laughable and absolutely unR&R. Right up there with Grammys and CMA. Music is so subjective and most of the time, awards are based on $. I find Green Day irritating as hell. Paul Butterfield? Freaking awesome and influential. Just my .02 worth.....
  17. Ben Watson. Tight end for Saints and Georgia Bulldogs
  18. So now we are profiling the cop? What hypocrisy.
  19. Jeff has not changed clothes since the Ryman shows.....
  20. Be there both nights. Looking forward to different playlists...maybe
  21. Time for Jeff to visit Tim Gunn......looking very ragged. Sensitive, introspective artists and all that not withstanding....
  22. Just heard Johnny Winter died in Switzerland at the too young age of 70. One of the truly great guitarists of my life. Probably underrated. Remember him tearing up Highway 61 at Bobfest....
  23. Grew up on The Who. Saw them multiple times including at the old Omni in Atlanta with Lynyrd Skynyrd as opening act. I have not seen them live since Keith Moon died. Just not the same. Wilco is awesome live and their ability to sound like their records is excellent. The Who were a totally different story. Their live act was unreal .... I just don't think their bombast, great at the time, ages well......
