  1. I'm totally in favor of the two set system a la the Dead. I'm with you MB. Time to hit the bathroom, grab a beer, and discuss the first set/ ponder the second set makes for a more enjoyable concert experience rather than figuring which song you can live without while you make the run. The one set method is useful for figuring out which songs are a crowds least favorite by the amount of people making the above mentioned "run".
  2. I thought MSU tickets weren't on sale til tomorrow? It says 24th on the site.
  3. I'm pretty sure it is auditorium seating. A good friend of mine is an MSU grad and he loves the acoustics at the Wharton. He compared it in size and sound to the Max Fisher where the Detroit Symphony Orchestra plays.
  4. Count me as jealous as well. Sounds like it was a great show to plan a vacation around. My wife and I did that a few years ago for Emmylou Harris in N. Michigan. We only had one child then. We'll wait a few more years before we attempt it with three.
  5. I'm just lookin for an excuse to spend my kids school clothes budget on myself. Pants schmantz floods are in, right? Rhino Records
  6. 1. Blowout Comb - Digible Planets (one of the finest expressions of place and time in music) 2. Red Hot + Cool / Stolen Moments - Various Hip Hop artists + various jazz artists 3. Run DMC - Raising Hell 4. Public Enemy - ITANOMTHUB 5. Tribe - Low End Theory 6. Guru 7. Spearhead - Home 8. De La - 3 ft. 9. MC 900 ft. Jesus 10. Beastie's - Ill Communication 1 & 2 still get fairly regular play (I fuckin love to roll into the yard where I store my work truck crankin The Rubber Song by Pharcyde while a bunch of rebel yellin rednecks gawk at me). Other than that the rest get a track on mix tape
  7. OSI? Do they wear jackboots and armbands? It sounds like they would haul you out of your classroom during nap time and rough you up. And those pants things can be pretty tricky no matter how old you are!!!
  8. My wife works in one of those IT/ web design type offices and we're trying for the Lansing show. With all those computers and creative web design folks sitting around drinking coffee and waiting for something to do we're hoping to score decent seats.
  9. Hey kids, here are some nifty work sheets to keep you busy. (insert class tattle tail here) is in charge. I'm running down to the library for a minute. Problem solved.
  10. I popped that Aussie show from 79 in as a sad second best and Christmas Card was so good I didn't mind not going. Then I see he played it and it was a little kick in the nuts, but that's life.
  11. Cross-Eyed, ignore my PM. I'm a little bit drunk and I see your setlist now. And I wish I had all the money we spent on dope. I'd by me a used car lot, and I think i'd never sell any of em. I'd just drive me a new car every day of the week dependending on how I feel. Now I'm just gonna put on that album by Little Anthony and the Imperials and pop my gum and arch my back. HA
  12. Yeah, bistro tables, Tom, 1982...that sounds like seismic activity. As much as I love his music I don't think this tour will compare to that. Ah but that's why we collect the boots.
  13. I'll be resting on my laurels and my hardys. I was out the door at 5:45 a.m. and in the old International with the sun coming up, freeways cars, and trucks. On my way to the dump I had Swordfishtrombones blasting to commemorate Mr. Waits impendinding performance at our illustrious opera house this evening. After work I had a couple a beers while grilling up dinner for the family and enjoyed this fine performance from 1979: 1 Romeo's Bleeding 2 Annie
  14. HA;::,! So True. I found that post humorous, insightful, petty, and thoreauxly believed by the person who wrote it. Those indie kids can be real mean.
  15. That'd be great to just start up all the treadmills at one time and start doing a routine. It would sure make the workout more fun.
  16. The wooba gooba wit da green teeth says, "Amen to that" !!!
  17. I was surprised to see Blue Traveler up next I thought John Popper died. Apparently he was replaced by Penn Gillette.
  18. It's time for my wife's classic Dead shout: "Play something nutty!!!!"
  19. Kinda makes you want to be a musical genius! Okay camera guys we get it.
  20. How many of those green sportscoats does Jeff own? If that is the only one it could probably play half the set without him this far in the tour.
  21. Nah it was weird good, but I don't think it was meant for a festival setting. I had to check SWR bio. I thought they were some 80's English band I missed.
  22. A good friend of mine got to spin that wheel!!!
  23. Does MTV still play videos or do they just program crappy reality tv shows? They do have a nice searchable site. I took a few to watch some of my favorites: Elvis Costello, Madness, The Specials. It's strange to think how important MTV was to my musical development. Shows like 120 Minutes turned me on to so many bands that I otherwise would have NEVER heard on the radio.
