  2. Hey there - I just go 2 tickets for massey hall (toronto) via pre-sale. got section RSF, row C, seats 45,46. anyone know if these are good? I'm assuming so, since it's row C, but not sure of what section RSF is. anyone been there?
  3. I owned three copies. I wore them all out. I wore out a couple of these as well!!! And I'll always have a soft spot for the first album I ever bought.
  4. Another great set list. I got a tremendous Poor Places>Reservations in E. Lansing. And Hell is Chrome, Sunken Treasure, Mountain Bed on Friday. Ashes would have been nice, but I'm thankful. How was Califone?
  5. My wife and I drove in to the big city for the day. A little lunch at Goose Island, a little window shopping, marveled at the chrome jellybean, checked out the great outdoor performance space at Grant? park (who plays there in the summer?), chatted with a cool cat from California at the Artist's Cafe, in other words made a whole day of it sans kids. Oh and we saw some cool local band called Wilco. It was the best time either of us has had in Chicago and we barely scratched the surface. The theatre was tremendous. A real cultural gem. You folks are lucky to have such architechural history pre
  6. I joined the army 'cause my father and my brother were in the army. I figured I better join before I got drafted. Sergeant Hulka: Son, there ain't no draft no more. There was one?
  7. Happy Birthday Mike!!! Enjoy your break.
  8. Check out this place Cliff Bell's if you want a cool laid back atmosphere. It's also close to the Town Pump which is a bit rowdier and Centaur which I haven't been to, but sounds swanky. Is The Bronx that bar on Cass by Wayne State? I've drank in an old bar over there, but can't remember the name. There used to be a coffee house (literally a house turned coffee shop) that hosted some great bands from time to time. I saw Medeski Martin & Wood there as well as Blonde Redhead. It was like seeing a band in someone's living room (complete with blown fuses). The Buzz Bar in Greektown is als
  9. Thanks for all the great info. We're having a lot of fun planning our day in the BIG city. I wish we had more time, but a day in Chicago is more fun than a week in Detroit (although there is a rash of cool new bars opening). Thanks for the navigation tips Louie. Chicago is a snap to navigate compared to Detroit. Detroit is like a big spoked wheel half submerged in a river (except where the river curves) with random dimly lit one way streets. The downtown area is relatively small so you can't get too lost, but if you stray off the beaten path it gets rather dangerous quickly.
  10. The clothes are ugly. Gap still sells clothes right?
  11. We're breezing into town for the Friday show and are looking for someplace to eat (and maybe grab a nitecap after the gig). Where do the locals recommend for a nice pre-show meal?
  12. We just got our poster a few days ago. It was mailed and we didn't receive it, so they mailed another non-personalized poster. We received both posters on the same day. I would definetly drop them a line. Everyone my wife e-mailed was very very helpful and very nice. A first class organization.
  13. I've still got a case from last year. I like it older and more mellow. Same with my Bigfoot.
  14. Really one of the finest most affordable American sparkling wines around. A tight fine bubble and a beautiful rich mouthfeel full of vibrant strawberry fruit. ABC makes some of the most distinct wines in Cali. Great pinot noir, chardonnay, and a bevy of white Rhone varietals like marsanne and rousanne. The pinot noir is da bomb. Both were served with pan roasted wild salmon with the finest Italian rosemary. My wife takes great care of me. I take care of the wine and she takes care of the rest. For dessert? More bubbly of course!!!
  15. Fun video. I'm currently enjoying nine remastered shows I just downloaded. I'm reorganizing the Tom collection complete with printed cd covers and the works.
  16. That was a really awesome car wreck of a biopic! Michael Anthony Hall as Mutt Lang. How can you go wrong? My buddy ran into C.C. Deville of Poison last week and chatted him up for a few minutes. It was a pretty funny conversation. They have one of my favorite Behind the Music episodes.
  17. Does Ray include a hand job for $40? It looks like it may be Califone.
  18. Damn, now I'm presented with a dilemma. The entertainment budget is pretty tight so I have to choose between Califone in AA 45 min away or Ray Lamontagne downtown. Decisions, decisions. I guess it's a the glass is full and I get to drink it too kinda choice.
  19. Let's not forget that covering other peoples songs can be an art in itself. Taking someone elses words and transforming them into your own voice and feelings is difficult to do well (just watch 5 min. of American Idol). Some artists have crafted fine and illustrious careers from singing well written songs. One of my favorites, Emmylou Harris, is as big a supporter of songwriters and their art as you will find. It is nice to see her doing some of her own writing these days.
  20. I'm a fan as well. I owned it on 8 track. To me it always seemed like a PT solo album featuring the Who. I'm currently listening to the Who Are You demos I just downloaded. By the way thanks for turning me on to Bootcity A-man.
  21. But can Wolfie scream "You're the best fuckin audience in the world!!!" with the same enthusiasm as MA night after night.
  22. HAAAA!!! Cum bunker!!! I felt a little like Beavis when I read that.
  23. Douchebag. I couldn't resist the setup. I was hoping for Califone. I got Dethholz. I'm going to see Wilco. In Chicago. Thanksgiving weekend. Just the Missus and I. Without the kids.
  24. Was it the Muzak version? That would be cool.
  25. Perfectly acceptable for Van Halen in '82. Even downright commendable!!! Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
