  3. ha! sorry, didn't mean to confuse...but i really doubt that YOUR mixes can beat out my brothers...
  4. So, my brother has been making me some mixes for the last couple of months, and I love every one of them so I thought I'd share them with everyone. So far, there are 5 mixes, and one 'imaginarey soundtrack'. Here's the tracklisting for Mix #1: 1. Immune- Acoustic Memories 2. Ramona Cordova- Givers' Reply 3. Dirty Three (featuring Chan Marshal)- Great Waves 4. Mia Doi Todd- Growing Pains 5. The Gentleman Losers- Laureline 6. Sol Seppy- 1 2 7. Ramona Cordova- Chessers 8. My Architects- Picture 9. 5. i have no information to help you out, but May 29th is my b-day!!
  6. Several people have said that they really aren't digging Tweedy's higher vocal range that tends to be used more in this album, and that's cool, but I'd definitely have to disagree. I think one reason why I've never really gotten into Uncle Tupelo is that the vocals of both Jay and Jeff don't pull me in. They're very low and gruff, and I just really don't enjoy them. With the early Wilco albums Jeff continues to stick to the lower register quite a bit. I still really enjoy the early wilco records, but now that Jeff's range seems to have really expanded, I can't get enough of his voice.
  7. yesterday afternoon, CKUA played "What Light"...lovely!!
  8. i couldn't have said it better, so I won't!
  9. really...? I LOVE Shake it Off! To each their own I guess.
  10. I really hope that I'm reading this wrong and you're not implying that I only start listening to people when they get on this silly list, which I've never heard of, by the way. If she is starting to get more widespread attention, then good for her. I think more people should be exposed to her music. Just because she's on the same list as Nickleback, it shouldn't somehow decrease her talent. I doubt she had any control over getting onto said list.
  11. I just got the album yesterday. I can't stop listening to "My Body is a Cage". Really. I just can't get over it. I'm in love!!!
  12. My brother just sent me yet another amazing mix CD (he has this uncanny ability for creating the best collection of songs, ever!) and a couple of Regina Spektor songs were on it. I'd heard of her before, I think from something on npr.org, but I hadn't heard any of her songs. After listening to two songs on the mix from her latest album, I downloaded her album titled "Songs", i think from 2002 (don't quote me on that!). I really think that she's going to become one of my favourite female singer/songwriters. I love love love her voice (it somewhat reminds me of Feist, at certain points) and
  13. hmmm....right now my favorite is Hate it Here, closely followed by You are My Face and Shake it Off.
  14. I find Pitchfork rather shallow and pedantic.

  16. Alright. So last night was the perfect evening. I watched Sunken Treasure with my sister, and then proceded to be blown away by listening to this album. The entire flow of the album was incredible and there isn't a song on the album that i don't love. I can't wait until I have the opportunity to see Wilco live cause I'm gonna be dancin' like its noboby's business!! Seriously, its impossible to listen to these songs and not get one's groove on. man, i still can't stop smiling!!
  17. PM anyone? thanks so much for helping everyone out!!!
