William S. Burroughs has a great out of print book called The Cat Inside, which are essays (in typical Burroughs fashion) about his relationships with cats through his life. It is one of my favorite little works.

i'm actually surprised that the japanese ball players don't know english that well or at all.... Just about every japanese person i've ever met speaks better english than the average RIer.

i have been out of work for a month and a half almost, but just physically out of work. I'm emotionally still all wrapped up in it and still doing just about everything but physically planting trees that i would do if i wasn't out on disability. So, i'm not feeling a lot of that good feeling you guys are. But that's my fault. I could have completely cut off all contact with the office, but i'm just not good at that.

Dear Guys: Hi! How are you? Congrats on the new record! It is still "growing" on me but you'll be happy to know that we did buy a copy at an independant record store. i'm one of those people who reads a lot into commercials, the music, the sentiment and i wholeheartedly support these ads. The idea that VW and therefore wilco, is high quality enough for the tow truck driver to move the car, in a friendly, respectful gesture speaks to me. the second one, with the guy who refuses to give his keys up, not as much, i find it simply isn't as clever. let me give you an example of how it can backfire. i know the sox/yankees saga bores many of you, but did anyone hear tell of the bench clearing brawl between the NYY media and the RS Media game at Fenway yesterday? It seems no one is reporting it, although there was a bit on SportsCenter...It sounds pretty funny.

there was a great new yorker article last year in the education issue about changing school lunch program to reflect a healthy diet--i think it was in California. i can try to scan it in when i get to the office this week.

we will be in San Fran for the All Star break, but damn are tix expensive.

i have very much enjoyed my two trips to US Cell. Although it was pretty hot. and the food is definately better than at Fenway, but the food at Camden is good too.
