  1. yahoo looks kinda cool. They are projecting 318 for Obama at the moment. LouieB
  2. I know this thread dropped like a rock, but they did a story on this on NPR and the sound of the material is actually really good. Unfortunately they didn't give the record company any press..but so it goes. LouieB
  3. Ralph Nader; in a stunning come from behind victory when everyone woke up this morning and realized that Barack Obama is a sham..... Nah..just kidding.... LouieB
  4. Wow, that's harsh...it doesn't even sound like he is telling people to vote Obama..... I sure hope so... LouieB
  5. You got that right..... Nope...not me. Hell I couldn't get my butt out of the house last night to see the Magnolia Electric Company at the Abbey. I don't need to spend election night with a million crazy motherfuckers (Obama supporters or not..) in ultra crowded Grant Park. They are restricting where people go and the area where the non-ticket holders are going to have to go isn't that big (where they hold jazz and other fests....Butler Field I think it is called, by the Petrillo bandshell.) It will be on TV and that is good enough for me. Landslide people...landslide...... LouieB
  6. They need more people in Dixville Notch.... LouieB
  7. It's great to have the day off.....more time to watch TV.....listen to music...go shopping..get spam from the Democrats....finally feel proud to be an American. LouieB
  8. I think there is going to be a reverse Bradley effect; far more minority voters in all parts of the country voting Obama and more whites voting who aren't saying now. (Pollyanna deluxe over here...) LouieB
  9. Oh yea...the Underground Quartet stuff is good too, I forgot that. I should actually try and download that ESO thing with Roscoe....big fan of his.... As with any musicians you like, trying to collect their entire discography can make you go broke. But the first Isotope 217 could be a good place to start actually. (unstable molecule) (hell I just discovered there is a third one...from 8 years ago too...damn. ) LouieB
  10. Oh man....he is on tons of CDs...late Tortoise, Isotope 217 (particularly the first one) Exploding Star Orchestra. I don't know his solo stuff on Thrill Jockey but I am guessing it is good too. He is/was associated with AACM groups so stuff with Ernest Dawkins, Fred Anderson, etc is probably all interesting. Park yourself at the Velvet Lounge it looks like he is playing there several times just in November, which doesn't count is gigs other places. He is truly an MVP. I have seen him play dozens of times with all sorts of groups. If you don't know Nicole Mitchell...she is worth checking
  11. Ohio is going Obama, so is North Carolina....(wishful fucking thinking...) heck I think he even has a pretty good chance in Indiana. LouieB
  12. Very cool. While both campaigns exagerated (and maybe told a few untruths by the way), McCain has had some associations that were never pushed by the Obama campaign that were just as outrageous (or more so) than the Ayers/Wright associations. I am sure Bill Ayers never had any idea he would be this famous. Hell he wasn't this famous in the 60s/70s as he is now. LouieB
  13. That is very sad.....makes me tear up actually. I was also sad that Studs Terkel passed prior to this election. I am sure he was looking forward to seeing Obama win as well. LouieB
  14. Big time....I am predicting the biggest total on the board....over 375, although actually I think it may be closer to 350. No need to go postal because I really really believe a huge number of young people, newly registered, minority, and progressive voters are going to turn out. I am totally optimistic.....totally. LouieB
  15. Of course neither Obama nor Nader hates Jews (or do they??). We can never really tell what people feel in their hearts; we just have to believe and I believe in Barack Obama and that despite a few misteps he is still the best (and most likely to win) candidate that reflects my beliefs. There are many times (as I have said many times as well) that we must compromise even our deepest convictions in order to bring about consensus. Although I don't plan to go downtown tomorrow, my soul and my heart will be there......and I certainly wish that Wilco could be too... LouieB
  16. here here....we all want want want what we want...but we don't want to have to pay for it.....and we don't want anyone else to have it either.... LouieB
  17. Of course Obama has pledged to support Israel, but one of my very oldest friends in the world believes that he is going to turn on them, with the help of Ayers, Wright, and members of the Carter administration dismantle the place; that it is at the top of his agenda, and guess what, alot of Jews believe that. ALOT!! And you believe that Israel should disappear too I suppose (come on fess up...). So really you should support Obama if you believe all the crap that is floating around about what his REAL plans for Israel are. The fact is that no American politician in his or her right mind is
  18. Are there really people on this board making over $250,000 a year? Really?? If so you are some lucky motherfuckers...I have been working my entire life and I don't make anywhere near that..... LouieB
  19. Did I forget to indicate I was being sarcastic?? The fact remains that the Bush tax plan expires in two years. Extending it is ridiculous. In any event Congress has to pass something sometime and whether Obama's ideas come to pass or not remains to be seen. We need Barack Obama for many other reasons (hey.....everyone...we still have a war in Iraq....) LouieB
  20. That would be the answer...thanks. He helps curate this thing I do believe. LouieB
  21. The Bush administration never wasted a single taxpayer dollar, not a one....neither would a McCain administration.....only an Obama administration will waste money or take more in taxes than they need..... LouieB
  22. Sunday night does look very good (Jim Baker and group as well as two groups with Nikki Mitchell) and Wednesday is free, but late for a work night. I do like the Hungry Brain though.... It is interesting that Ken Vandermark is nowhere to be seen unless I am just not seeing his name... LouieB
  23. I realize this is none of my business, but that hasn't stopped me from commenting on stuff before (nor will it again.) I just looked at the Drag City website and there is tons of contact information there, but as you point out nothing specific for Jim O'Rouke. Could it be he doesn't want to contacted?? Just a guess here..... It says that if the booking agent is not listed that Drag City does the booking and lists an email. Did you try that? booking@dragcity.com Did that work? Did you get a response?? Did you Google him specifically? Did you contact Wilco's management for this infor
  24. We have had two Americas for a very long time now.....sadly. One thing that always happens after an election, is that the loser is magnanimous and offers support. I am sure, despite all the shitty things his campaign has said, McCain will do the same thing. That won't stop the speculation that Barack is a Muslim/terrorist/socialist/ etc. in the general population, but somehow things will get back to relative normacy. Maybe we will even get the heck out Iraq sooner than later...who knows. The economy will undoubtedly settle down after the election as well. LouieB
