A real Socialist from when such people actually ran real third party campaigns. (Way way way before my time incidently...) I just love this picture...in those days people really knew how to speak...!! LouieB

Sadly I wasn't at this particular one. This is a great old song actually. It had been around for several years. I remember singing it around campfires. (Gawd those were the good old days...) LouieB

I was in Washington on November 15, 1969 and then again in the spring after the invasion of Cambodia. I was in England when this was going on. This is getting to be so long ago, I nearly said yes.... This demo was the last big one before the war ended as I recall. This is a great song..... LouieB

I voted last Friday. Now I get election day off so I can sleep in and watch TV all day. I wore one of the small Obama buttons (no words) to the polling place and no one said a thing. I also wore a Wilco shirt, but they weren't on the ballot. LouieB

Hey Zeus, it was a joke from cryptique and it is a joke from me....lighten fucking up....I have never suggested that people vote Obama because they are supported by Wilco (although if you do it will make Jeff happy....) LouieB

Some already put him in the 350 range with several states still up for grabs but leaning his way.......landslide time.... LouieB

Were there lots of co-eds in Hamiltons? For your sake I hope so (unless you were there with a partner.) Check the Reader music listings for music or pick up the paper somewhere. (Its everywhere.) I have to be honest, I don't go see blues hardly anymore. Sadly the old guard is pretty much gone leaving the scene to the tourists. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go check it out. Kingston Mines is still around and there are still some decent bands around and you will have fun at one of the blues bars if you have not done this before. I did this alot as a youth. All I think I needed to know......(but when I have suggested this, I have gotten slammed.)) Who won't self destruct within months of being in office.....Obama.... Thanks to sweetheart-mine for giving an actual reasoned answer. LouieB

The record industry is dead....... Some of these albums are good, but many are either not that exciting (not that I know all of them but I know a few) or only worth $5. LouieB

Go blue.... remember lots of Jews are voting against Obama because they believe he is anti-Israel and possibly an Arab. LouieB

Congratulations.....seriously.. Some day you can tell your grandchildren that you helped elect Obama by putting FLA over the top In the meantime I am...... and I am outta here... LouieB

let's see....if you read through all the threads it didn't really get personnal from me until people started attacking me personally. Others here were getting pretty insulting and it didn't seem to bother anyone all that much, but when I tried to make a point or two then it was my fault somehow. In fact I didn't weigh in here until fairly late in the convo. Its okay..I am pretty much done anyway and these threads...well they will be history too soon. LouieB

Is Jeff still pushing that vote for Obama crap?? Doesn't he know his fans don't want him talking about politics?? And it certainly isn't any of his business who we want to vote for.... LouieB

Right on..... Race may not be that big a deal unless you are in fact of another race. (or a die hard racist...) When all is said and done the vast majority of African Americans in this country will have voted for Obama. For that matter a large percentage of young people (at least I hope) will have voted for Obama, a whole bunch of educated people will have voted for Obama. McCain will be left with the less educated older white people to vote for him and it appears even alot of them are going to vote Obama. And few of them are going to have engaged in the angst you seem to have..... Loui

Oh really....then why did the ATF just break up a young skin-head group who was talking of assasinating of him? (And killing a bunch of blacks along with him.) Okay fine. Race has nothing to do with anything in this country. Not sure how your age group is exempt from this, but that's fine. I am sure there are many young African Americans out there going to the polls right now to cast their vote for John McCain. LouieB

Surely you jest.....you appear to know little or nothing about the Democratic party platform. Luckily someone else besides me has pointed out that Gore was (is) a long time environmentalist and that Democrats supported environmental legislation without Nader.... With or without Nader, green jobs and alternative energy sources has been a centerpiece of Obama's campaign. LouieB

Bravo.....!!!! The man of the day.... Incidently a three way race in the Democratic primary of 1983 helped Harold Washington get elected as the candidate of the party. Without a split of the vote between Jane Byrne and Richard M. Daley he may not have won this. By the time of the general election, the inherent racism of the Chicago electorate became clear when some white Democratic voters switched over to Bernie Epton, in an election what would have not had any interest at all had Harold not been the candidate. It is not my imagination that a third party candidate can skew election resul

He did and he also did. That was a different time and a different election. That was then, this is now!!! I didn't have nearly as stong feelings about Clinton or frankly anyone in that election. Likewise I didn't have AS strong feelings about 2000, but in retrospect the Nader votes were a disaster, not only because it helped Bush get elected, but because Nader has turned out to be a selfish bastard. LouieB

I did....you are entitled to be a selfish bastard if you so choose. What's to argue with there?? When we make decisions that are wrapped up in self interest we are selfish sometimes. When John McCain stands up and says he wants you to keep more of your own money and Obama wants to redistribute the wealth, what is he saying? That we all want what is ours and we shouldn't give it to anyone else. I am certainly selfish when I get in arguments here with people who think that voting for Nader is a good idea, because I want Obama to win, not Nader and not Sarah Palin. When someone wants to en

Actually if you re-read my past posts I have said that you are entitled to vote third party if you so choose. I hardily disagree with that perspective, but I know plenty of people who have voted that way and so it goes. I have never said you should not vote your concience, EVER!! But I do question what concience is, in this election for voting for a third party candidate for President; that I just can't wrap my brain around. Just so you know....I voted Green on several local races. I am certainly not opposed to it in those cases, only in the case of the Presidential election where so mu
