  1. Sure..all those people who hate black people are voting Obama LouieB
  2. and the answer is.... there would have been no Mermaid Avenue recordings with Wilco if Billy Bragg hadn't invited them in.... LouieB
  3. I watched most of this. Dave was particulary forthright and even harsh at times. It was a good move on McCain's part to actually show up, since clearly he screwed up the first time. This thing is over......Obama by a landslide.....maybe even Indiana?? LouieB
  4. I have been saying this for years....the complete Mermaid Ave sessions will be released some decade... Even some day after everyone's hurt feelings stop being hurt they may tour behind a box set....who knows. LouieB
  5. Well we do....it is Jeff Tweedy's town as well.... LouieB
  6. He will do that and it will be great... Yea.....sure I am..... LouieB
  7. Thanks goodness the debates are finally over and that in the third debate they actually started to talk about something. Forget the more taxes less taxes BS. No tax proposal is going to be delivered by either of these guys without Congress so all this talk is just BS. But finally rather than stump speeches, a few times the candidates actually just talked about stuff, such as trade policy, etc. In those moments Barack's thoughtful and reasoned statements got into territory that most voters can't understand or care about, but at least there was an actual discussion (not so much by McCain w
  8. Even William would have appreciated Barack's cool intellectualism as opposed to McCain's hot and impulsive personality. LouieB
  9. I still miss No Depression. I boxed up my last three issues with the rest of the run and stuck it in the attic. It was great while it lasted. Paste is no substitute; I barely look at it when it comes. LouieB
  10. That's the one.... It was billed as the complete concert, but clearly they have found other material, either additional material from this show, or if there were more than one show, or rehersals or whatever. Once again Sony/Columbia has found a way to pick our pockets...you gotta give them credit. I never bought the full San Quentin one. When you listen to these albums (in any configuration including the original vinyl releases), the Rick Rubin material, while interesting, still pales by comparison. LouieB
  11. Hey don't sweat it...I have already gotten blasted myself on the election thread for thinking Wilco fans should vote Obama.....really I don't care... I have Wilco jacked straight into my brain William Gibson style from the cyberspace trilogy.... LouieB
  12. Was at the Schuba's show....had fun. LouieB
  13. Jeez, nothing personal here......I have tons of Neils LP's, CDs, etc. I rarely buy stuff new so it has to be in front of me used for me to buy it generally anymore. I did buy maybe the Fillmore actually and liked it. I watched Massey Hall which as a movie was an irritating mess and bummed me out more than anything. If I just heard it, then it would have been fine. I just like the idea of hearing really early Neil, since there are many concert records, many of which I have. Regarding running out of room......same problem here. Once you have 4 or 5 K LPs and a thousand CDs, you have to be ca
  14. I know, Kriis, you feel that way. I know it is sort of a stupid argument. No one has to do what their favorite rock star does, that's hardly the point. I am not even proposing that or frankly supporting that. I just don't get how anyone at this stage can support McCain-Palin, period, end of argument. Wilco fans can do whatever they need to do. LouieB
  15. Don't bother...we clearly are talking to unbalanced people here.... If you support McCain-Palin and their wacky right wing stances or vote third party in this close an election and basically support left of center politics, you are not balanced. This is an election where people who support McCain/Palin are willing to ask for the assassination of Barack Obama; I don't think we have to give anyone the benefit of the doubt at that point. LouieB
  16. Exception taken. Cleary you do think that NOT voting for Obama is important. I get that. I have gotten that from any number of folks here who think I should understand that voting for someone who is trying to win the Vietnam war in Iraq and has become as right wing as McCain has (list all his other ridiculous positions here, I am not up for it) is attractive to the so many people in the Wilco fan base. Both my friends and detractors can beat me up for this (and have), I still don't get it. Sorry. Just as you don't get why you SHOULD vote for him, I don't get why you wouldn't. That seems
  17. Yea, considering this has been something we have talked about for the past five years, I do know that. But no one should be surprised that I am surprised that there are Wilco fans who really want Barack to lose. LouieB
  18. Actually yes. Actually you may be wrong about this, since I had a conversation with Jeff four years ago prior to the last election and he really felt it was important then to elect a Democrat and I am sure feels it is important now to elect Obama. Considering Jeff has played Obama benefits and his band wears Obama buttons and such, I am sure he is just like everyone else and would like people to support who he feels is best. Short of Jeff coming on here and telling you himself, I can't be totally sure, but I am close enough sure that I think I can say that. Could I be wrong?? Sure. It
  19. whatever... I know.....I don't care anymore. The fact that some folks here don't get that this IS an important election no longer really amazes me. At this stage of the game if folks really think McCain is better for the long term health of this country, so be it. If somehow the fact that we can elect a really smart, thoughtful, and concerned person of color as president of the US of A and that doesn't seem to matter to people on the so called left, so be it also. I am with the majority of Wilco fans who are going to vote Obama and we can all be proud in a couple weeks when we (with
  20. When I tell other Wilco fans that here on VC there are actual Wilco fans that are voting AGAINST Obama people are amazed. LouieB
  21. Yea, me too....this is actually interesting... LouieB
  22. Finally something interesting from the Young archives.... I would buy this. LouieB
  23. Da Dogg is clearly a newbie here to irritated us about politics only..ignore him. LouieB
  24. They released the entire show a few years back. What is this now?? You gotta love Columbia for changing up on fans constantly and rerere-issuing the same material with more added. LouieB
  25. That's not why I haven't played it. I have heard the album many times on CD in the car etc. and it sits in a huge pile of LPs that I haven't gotten around to listening to and I forget it is there. Perhaps this is the day I break it out and give it a listen. Also I agree about vinyl snobs; even though I own thousands of LPs I see no reason to be snobby about it. CDs in general sound just fine.... LouieB
