  1. Messed up is an understatement. It was downright distrurbing....he looks like death warmed over... LouieB
  2. Anyone up?? If so it is the dreaded pledge drive time..... Spinning the oldies and the really oldies... LouieB
  3. Two of my faves....are they are DVD?? Don't really know, since I saw them back in the day when you had to see stuff like that in the theater.... LouieB
  4. The two jam sessions are pretty uneventful and sort of mediocre. I am sure they would have brought the movie to a complete halt (not unlike the Neil Diamond footage.) There are great performances in the Last Waltz including Van the Man and Muddy Waters.... LouieB
  5. It was pretty much Robbie's movie since he was pal-ing around with Marty in those years. LouieB
  6. I didn't notice those at the Block Party, but then it was pretty hot last weekend. LouieB
  7. I just saw a copy at Lauries. Maybe I will ask for it for the holidays...what the heck...Shane needs more beer money.... LouieB
  8. Bruce is a mere 7 months older than me......Happy Birthday Bruce..... LouieB
  9. Way off topic now....I have yet to buy a pair of non-Americian Converses, but they day may be coming soon, since some of my old pairs have very little sole anymore. I still have one brand new pair of white ones, but I need a workable pair of black ones, since all of my are very worn. So it goes. Considering they are not made in the USA, they cost way too much. According to Sam part of the 80s look is a pair of Keds, a brand of gym shoes I wore as a very young child. Strange to think they are also making a comeback. LouieB
  10. Gawd, I know nothing about any of this I guess. Sam only pointed out the young women trying to look like 80's mothers or whatever. Having worn the same type of clothes my entire life I am just not really hip to any of this. I am just waiting for the day that Chuck Taylors STOP being hip since I was pretty dismayed when everyone started wearing them, sadly just not in time to save American jobs when they used to be made here. 11. Somewhere near Madison, but in some small town. Someone will know soon. LouieB
  12. Memories to last a lifetime.... LouieB
  13. I sure hope that the polls are totally wrong in any event and that all the young people with only cell phones that can't be accessed by pollsters get their butts to the polls on election day. I think we could see Obama doing far better in some places than we have any idea about.. Meanwhile, the bailout in its present form sucks..... LouieB
  14. RATATAT!!!!! Whoa I am still tired..... It really was great to see our somewhat famous local folks (Andrew Bird, John Stirratt, etc. etc.) just kind of hanging out with friends and family and not having to perform. All of these folks have played at the Hideout in their time and it is just like one big club house. It is a real honor to be even a small part of the scene.....even the New Pornos said they always end up at the Hideout no matter where in Chicago their actual gig is. I was sort of sad to find out that Kelly Hogan, former bartender at the Hideout and regular back-up singer f
  15. Sam explained this to me on Sunday since I had no idea what you were talking about. I think I got it, but frankly I can't figure out how anyone would want to try that hard to look like that. LouieB
  16. ....but that's what it is!!! I also interfaced (now there is a creepy word) with some Neko fans from Porchlight.... LouieB
  17. At the Hideout Block Party this weekend the Obama campaign folks had buttons that had a little h/o logo on the road on the Obama logo. It was so fucking cool. All I can say is win or lose, us Obama folks have way cooler shit than those McCainers..... LouieB
  18. Sorry...my bad. I was not sure what that other person was after that's all.... LouieB
  19. I have no idea what you are talking about. What help are you asking for? What footage were you talking about, the Burn To Shine thing that someone did mention? You got an answer to your question. What was I NOT helpful about? There are several movies in commercial release of Wilco or Jeff, and there are literally dozens of boots out there to choose from (hell I have seen a few even.) including Wilco and Uncle Tupelo in all eras of their careers, as well as tons of amatur stuff on YouTube. If you want to know about the Vic stuff there are threads on this also. Asking vague questions wil
  20. skyflynn is coming to Chicago?? There will be a large VC contingent there. LouieB
  21. Okay I am going to debrief on all this as well as I can before total fatigue and needing to work over take me. I must admit, that while the Block Party is still one of my favorite events, I do miss the old days when it was on the street and there were a few less hipsters clogging up the place, but given that everything that is really cool is ultimately going to attract a larger crowd I suppose it is inevitable. Having said that and having said I really am glad I was not simply hanging out all day, but had a tent to sit under and a volunteer job to go to the entire time, I will return again n
  22. And you didn't give me any.....or come by the merch tent and say hello to me and all the other VCers?? (The watermelon did end up in the VIP area however...) The watermelon thing was pretty darned clever and a bit fraught with a high degree of rather incindiary symbolism, I thought. I discussed this with some fans and they didn't get it but I think I did (not all that smart or anything, but still...) and I wonder if any of Tim's black rap "associates" ever threaten him about this?? Tim's subject matter is highly controversial and coming from a geeky white dude I really have to wonder. I ca
