  1. Good stuff tonight.....good to know I am not the only one up at this ungodly hour. Thanks for listening....the BAsement tapes..cool. LouieB
  2. What am I doing up this time of night?? Oh yea....Rosie is on the air, playing Flaming Lips, T Rex, NY Dolls, etc. LouieB
  3. Well I like them alot so I will definitely pick it up in the not too too distant future. LouieB
  4. At this point, the Democrats really really need Bill (and Hillary). Strange how things come around isn't it?? LouieB
  5. I was unimpressed when I saw them my first and only time, but I still wouldn't call them "really really bad." That is just plain silly. LouieB
  6. Yea, good name for her wasn't it. I like her, but find her very low key in general. She makes Suzanne Vega sound dynamic sometimes (I like her too...) LouieB
  7. Not really sure what this means...at the moment I feel like a depressive.... I don't believe the daily polling and I know Barak still has a good shot at this, but clearly he peaked early due to the pressures of the endless primary season. (Has anyone else noticed how grey he is these days???) He had better be in tip top form for the debates. LouieB
  8. If only real life were like this...... Actually at the moment this is more sad than funny....I have had two friends in the last 24 hours (both Obama supporters) say that there would currently be no contest if Hillary had won the nomination..... LouieB
  9. It is still 50 some days until the election, but I feel like I already need to get used to the McCain presidency and hope for a Hillary Clinton run in 2012. I know it ain't over yet, but somehow I have this sinking feeling that the Obama campaign has been bested (and swift boated) once again by the GOP and that we have to live through this some bad dream, with Sarah Palin being this close to becoming the first female president. LouieB
  10. It has gotten to the point that big time artists like Buck should invest in a Rickenbacker (or whatever ax they like) just to tour with and leave the really valuable one at home under lock and key for use in the studio. How on earth did someone not have their eye on this guitar 24/7?? Some poor roadie is probably catching holy hell right about now. LouieB
  11. Having finally seen them after 30 years I now could really get into collecting their albums. I think I will look around for more of them. There is one made up entirely of Sigur Ros material. But the ones made up of others artists works are more enticing to me actually. LouieB
  12. Not a big fan of either of these actually, however I really like Rainy Day Music. Go figure. LouieB
  13. Garden Ruin was only so so to my ears. I wish they would return to the southwest.... LouieB
  14. I am so behind the times I just picked up a used copy of Black Sheep Boy... LouieB
  15. Yea, me too. I found Gary's latest underwhelming, but pleasant and I bought Marc's newest (the deluxe addition) and never listened to it (well I did SEE him...) LouieB
  16. I would say the Jayhawks are certainly alt.country, although not Wilco beyond AM. There is a reason they are called the Jayhawks afterall and their connection to the Byrds, CSNY is undeniable. If you are sick of that kind of music you would certainly be tired of the Jayhawks. Bloodshot has now branched out into more soul and other types of stuff including picking up older artists trying to reinvent themselves (as Graham Parker did nicely with Bloodshot and certainly which Alejandro did as well.) LouieB
  17. Yea, I wish I could remember which old DJ here used to do the show, it was the first time I heard that format, I think it was maybe on Saturday mornings. I wonder who thought it up first?? Clearly it is not a new concept. Terry Hemmert, as a huge Beatle fan and one from the old days, must have a tremendous amount of Beatles material in her personal collection, not only the usual and bootleg stuff, but also covers by others, etc. LouieB
  18. For that kind of dough I might move there....and be the town Jew..... LouieB
  19. I never imagined my oldest friend from Chicago saying that Obama is going to destroy Israel so he is voting McCain either, but it happened. The guy went to school in Madison during the 60s and is brilliant yet believes this. I should post the e-mails he sent me...you wouldn't believe it. LouieB
  20. Sadly none of this matters. Those who think Sarah Palin is just what this country needs is a far larger group than most of us can imagine. LouieB
  21. Yea, I don't disagree......not any more (I did initially), but now I am sure they need ALL the help they can get. By the way, with the possible exception of Alicia Keys all the groups mentioned in the previous posts are nostalgia acts (NOT necessarily a bad thing ya understand), but it kind of backs up my original post about this topic, not to smash any more dead pumpkins.....(Oh yea, I have no fucking idea who Bret Michaels & Rock of Love is, he could be really hot for all I know...) (Oh yea Rufus, well I am sure there are plenty of people who are nostalgic for Rufus' old days.... )
  22. I would bet just about any Kronos album is good, period. I don't have alot of their stuff, but the one with Purple Haze is older (1984) and good and I have a copy of Howl, USA (1995) with a back-up track to the Ginsberg poem and some other freaky stuff (spoken drop-ins) that is also pretty good and NOT at all "classical". I am sure someone on the internet has more of a handle on this than I do, but based on what I have heard and seen I don't think you can go too far wrong with these guys (their former cellist was female). edit- Here is a cool page with the album covers. Judging from the c
  23. Worse than playing a hometown gig at a casino??? Nothing surprises me about these guys anymore.... LouieB
  24. Obama is not a Muslim?? Who knew??? LouieB
