Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
LouieB replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I keep noticing that people are reading this thread, but not putting in any suggestions or questions. What's the deal. There is no way I can know all about Chicago. Someone else must have some info and opinions.....thanks. LouieB -
Halfway through.... LouieB

Congratulations...all politics is local... LouieB

The money comes from you and me of course, in the form of taxes. Even though the US borrows money, from places like China, ultimately we owe it back to whomever we borrowed it from, so eventually it will come out of our pocket. LouieB

My "friend" has asked me not to publish the contents of emails, but they are more complex than that. The best one (of many) is that Sarah Palin has an Israeli flag on her office wall in Alaska, wocka wocka. In any event this is really screwing up my long term friendship with this guy, but apparently others reactions to his crazy shit was even more severe than my reactions. Sadly he made his email list so that a return all only returns to him and not to everyone receiving the emails. PM me if you are curious about the details, some of which I have not read because they are simply too d

This might be a good idea...once the Chinese figure out we aren't good for out debts, they may be coming around too. The US of A is just plain broke at this point. Thank you very much George W.... LouieB

It could be he doesn't know about it... LouieB -
Not sure what you are saying here.... You think Obama is supportive of Israel?? I have an old friend (have talked about this before..sorry) who believes Obama (and his merry band of lefties such as Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayes( is out to destroy Israel and therefore he is voting McCain and this is destroying our friendship. I think you would have to say that Israel continues to bedevil everyone, supporters and sceptics alike. On the actual election front, we can only hope that despite all the polls to the contrary, Obama supporters are going to come out of the woodwork on election day an

No Brooklyn Side by the Bottle Rockets?? LouieB -
Nope...not officially though, but he did apparently say that Barak should basically start running against McCain only and keep talking about the issues.... LouieB

Are you talking Karl Rove?? He actually has been giving the Obama campaign good advise of late...... (truely..apparently in the Wall Street Journal and on George Stephanapolis' program this AM.) LouieB

Oh yea, well then definitely then.... Actually this is some heavy shit on Sarah Palin from the Sunday Times also....Certainly from what the Times reports (left wing Jewish commie rag that it is...)Palin has been very good about giving old friends (from high school and such) important and well paying jobs in Alaska government.... If and only if you are a babe, I will be happy to pick you.... Let's face it..I need all the help I can get. LouieB

I am just amazed all this talk about a third party during what is perhaps the least important third party election in recent history. None of the candidates with the possible exception of Ron Paul, has any traction. Anyway..two brillant op-ed pieces from the NY Times today Frank Rich always insightful and equally as insightful Thomas L. Friedman. Check out what these guys have to say since they are funnier and more to the point than I am..... BUT if you really have to write someone in....feel free to write MY NAME in. (Anyone needing my full name just PM me...) I will be happy to ser

Simply looking at Tweedlings avatar is enough to get me to vote Obama...... LouieB

Glad to see everyone carried on in my absence. Now i know why bobbob and jc4pres aren't voting for Obama (and maybe not for McCain), it is because they don't mirror EXACTLY their own personal positions on stuff. Wow, okay...let's each of us clone ourselves and vote for that clone as a third party candidate....that makes sense..... Nader left the Greens because they were disorganized, but what party did he go to?? Some party smaller and less organized and less recognizable. Is Ron Paul the savior of American politics...frankly while some of his positions are intriguing, some are downr

Wow..how 1970s, you don't support nuclear power...then you better move out of NE IL because we run on the stuff. Nuclear power is not something I am in favor of either, but do you want coal power, petroleum power, what? Nuclear power isn't going away any time soon. It didn't go away when we protested it in the 70s and it isn't now either. So let's not support Obama so that McCain can stack the Supreme Court with a bunch of right wing justices....right..... I turned 21 in 1971 (yea the voting age was different then) and because I considered myself an anarchist I didn't vote until 1976 un

Actually apparently I can't read because I just read the quote that bobob is not far left. So what DO you represent?? What do you believe in?? Or are you simply yanking our chains for the fuck of it because you are too wimpy to decide? Seriously bobbob, what do you want? What is inherently good about a third party if it doesn't represent anything. This is EXACTLY why there isn't a third party. In a very real sense you have to pick a side and stick with it (which is why just like Analogman I am a Democrat and NEVER EVER EVER EVER voted for Reagan.....sorry Edie.....!!!) What is so fucking

Right bobbob, totally stupid, but that's sort of the way the founding fathers set shit up in this country. If you really want a multi-party system you are going to have to move to Israel or somewhere that a multi-party exists in real life. Better shart learing some Hebrew though, that will help. The US of A had some opportunities to have a third party, read a bit of history, but it didn't really work out. I voted Green in the last IL election, but even in that case the Greens got only 10% and are broke and nationally they don't do squat between elections. Neither did the fabulous Ralph Nade

Shop at Lauries....all the clerks are my friends and none of them are assholes (sometimes they drink a bit much..but other than that.... ) Wow......and let's vote in McCain while we are at it too... LouieB -
Actually he did, in FLA. If Obama is no different than McCain how come the Republicans are falling all over themselves trying NOT to elect Obama. In your mind they are no different, but in reality they are quite different. QFT?? Well yea, but Obama is not evil in any event is he?? I am trying to figure out what is evil about him? Think about who gets to appoint Supreme Court members and then tell me there isn't a radical difference between a President Obama and a President Palin, who could step into that position at any moment during a McCain presidency (or even if she doesn't who i

Just exactly what do you think an election is??? Winner take all. Exactly the same as a horse race. You get nothing for coming in place or show. Everyone one on the right knows that...only folks on the left think it is some sort of ideological struggle. Why exactly did McCain pick Palin?? Because she ups his odds considerably. Isn't that obvious to you. If you vote Nader, Paul, et al, all you are doing is lowering the chances that someone in your basic ideological wheelhouse is going to reside in the White House. You can have all these carefully constructed intellectual discussions

And besides..isn't Barak Obama the choice of Wilco, greatest rock group in the world and don't we want to see Wilco play a presidential inaguration?? I don't think McCain Palin is going to invite Jeff and company... LouieB
