They might have... Last night 2/3 of Wilco was at the Hungry Brain. It is not unusual to see Wilco members at clubs in Chicago (or on the street or other places.) Most of them live here and enjoy seeing their musical colleagues perform. I won't say it still isn't sort of a thrill to run into them and talk to them when possible, but really it isn't such a big deal that they are out in public. LouieB

Changing the subject (since this one is going nowhere....), I just found out that Braxton's son is in the rock group Battles. Pretty cool. LouieB

It implies that all normal working class guys are alcoholics and that all of them (us, since I am a normal working class kind of guy too I suppose) buy beer and go home and drink every night. It is weird that the term "middle class" is bandied about so freely as well. What the hell happened to "the poor" or the working class, etc. Middle class is actually fairly undescriptive and doesn't necessarily include "joe six pack" who I think of as more working class, trade or industrial oriented workers, a section of the current workforce that is actually relatively small. Why not start calling -
I have seen Jim Baker many times (Fred also) and he is amazing in any context. He is a long time collaborator with Ken Vandermark and that whole crowd. Strange guy though. Often wears heavy coats on hot days.... LouieB

Van Morrison Astral Weeks live in Hollywood
LouieB replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Actually the idea of Van doing Astral Weeks is a heck of a good idea. I find Van's more recent work pedestrian to say the least and maybe this will get his creative juices flowing again. (That country album is just barely tolerable....) LouieB -

You had me worried for a minute there. I assumed that Ralph would be backing McCain, but it is good to see him break with the usual right wing country music establishment and support Barak instead; Good going for a true legend. They should drag him along on the Springsteen tour; bring a touch of authenticity to the affair. LouieB Because most voters ACT like they are five years old..... LouieB -
Jim Baker is an unsung and highly unusual Chicago keyboard player. It is good to see someone from the Chicago improvisors community playing with some big names. This should be a weird and very fun show. (When are we finally going to see Jim's group at Hotti Biscotti??? We have only been planning this for about 2 years... ) If at all possible...I certainly would not miss it.... I plan to be there.... LouieB

Here we go again for the umteenth time... This is true, but a vote for anyone BUT Obama is only going help get us a President Palin (who will happen to be a "gun toting homophobic jesus freak"*); something to think seriously about. Ultimately everyone has to do what they want and need to do (get us a facist president... in my humble opinion), but really why throw away a vote this year when we can throw out the Bushies and the rest of the right wing fanatics (at least from the White House). Go for it if you must, but know that the math isn't on your side. LouieB *a direct quote from thi
