Which one would that be??? Ane who is THEY??? I am sure there is lots of footage of Wilco that was shot recently, just like many groups get footage taken at various shows, etc., that never sees any release. I can only assume you are talking about the movie shot at the Vic which is no longer very recent. LouieB

What a crazy cool time... No time to write about it now, but the New Pornos were certainly a highlight for me. Surprise group of the second day was Ugly Suit and Robbie Fulks tribute to Michael Jackson was certainly pretty cool. Also a highlight, Tim Fite's most unusual act. Crazy stuff, blowing all the hiphop cliches out of the water. But selling merch was certainly fun in and of itself. I can no longer simply go to a fest like this and stand around all day on hot pavement waiting for acts. LouieB

Yikes..could I be more exhausted?? Totally fun day selling merch to the masses and meeting band people and seeing Giant Sand, Neko etc. The surprise band of the day was Little Cow from Hungary. Plastic People sounded good and Monotonix was a hit and sold a ton of merch. Also met some nice Neko fans I talked to over on Porchlight. Hope y'all come today. LouieB

Phyllis' Musical Inn? How 1990s. (or even 1980s) Give me a break, not even half well known groups play there any more. Louie

And hence the reference to Walt Disney's father working on construction. I like this book so far, but something about it bugs me....not sure what yet.... LouieB

Lots of news on them in old posts....why not?? Maybe because Kevin Junior dropped out (due to a bad drug problem) just when they had a chance to make it big and they are still (still) trying to recover. It ain't easy coming back with all the competition one has in the music biz.... LouieB

My standard advice to folks needing a pain killer...always ask for dilaudid (synthetic morphine, which may be what you got) it is the best there is... Two bowel resections here...I am not nearly 3 feet short on bowel......last one was in October of last year.....kicked the fuck out of me... LouieB

If anyone was going to ask me for my extra ticket...it is now gone. Stop by and say hi at the merch booth... LouieB

I am sure no one wants to hear about my two abdominal surgeries, (or my couple kidney ones either...), but needless to say I have a great deal of respect for the medical profession (when they are on their game) and can also tell a story or two about when they are not. Regarding being naked....after awhile you really don't give a shit, because most medical folks have seen it all before. LouieB

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
LouieB replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Probably not going to happen, but if I am at the Bottom Lounge, etc. (is 2 cow playing that weekend) a beer is forthcoming. Excellent suggestion regarding Oak Park. Very cool place and plenty of tourist stuff and shopping out there. Not far from Fitzgerald's either. LouieB -
bumpity bump.... anyone going? Anyone need a ticket for Sunday??? (Cheap...PM me.) LouieB

It is very weird to be reading this and living in Chicago right now when we are going all out to land the Olympics. Strangely much of what may be constructed will be in the same general vicinity as the Columbian Exposition, the south lakefront possibly and Washington Park. They are proposing a temporary stadium in Washington Park, one that will be taken down after the event and hold 100,000 people. We are also supposed to be getting an upgraded and larger Ferris Wheel than the one currently at Navy Pier. Its like deja vu all over again. LouieB

"I Heard It Through the Grapevine" songwriter Norman Whitfield dead
LouieB replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Wouldn't it be great to write just ONE song like Grapevine and live the rest of your life on the royalties. Nice fucking work...really...... LouieB -
Best autumn song of all time.....Sandy Denny, Who knows where the Time Goes.... Also just about anyone from the English folk rock movement, Fairport, Linda and Richard Thompson, etc. And don't forget the "prince of bummers" Leonard Cohen.... LouieB
