The best band of all time, and probably their best album.
-
Probably their best album. At least way better than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and more cohesive than Summerteeth. I have to give more spins to the live album, and the new one to be definitive.
-
Please don't mind, I'm gonna weep off for an hour or two. I mean, this album is sublime.
-
Yeah, I have one (The Lights in this Town are too many to Count), and it's excellent.

Finishing School ~ Destination Girl Charming solo effort by Sacha Bell, who already sings and plays with Essex Green and Ladybug Transistor. There's a DVD along with the CD.
-
If there's an album to prove Shelby Lynne's amazing talent, this is Identity Crisis (I still need to listen to Suit Yourself, though)

Amaranthine, I've just listened to Josh's 1972 again a few minutes ago and on closer inspection, find it somewhat "too easy" listening. The sound is a bit flat, it sounds like "living room" music. On the other hand, the guy's still got taste for fine compositions. And my own logic is often weird too. As for cool music... Do you know Ron Sexsmith's Retriever?

Beautiful.

Rodney Crowell ~ Fate's Right Hand Such a great album!
-
Nobody knows how much I love this singer songwriter.
-
Young & Sexy ~ Life Through One Speaker

One thing's for sure: Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere needs a remastering on CD, as I got it on vinyl and the CD doesn't sound nearly as great.

Karen Dalton - The best singer you've never heard
Littlebear replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yes, "far better" is exaggerated, since she has on both albums this incredible voice that we can never forget once we heard it. And more than that: she always gets the feeling. -
Well, all things reckoned, I like that "Righteously" song. Cool and fun.
-
Only one? I vote for Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

The best album of 2003. Riddle: a well known musician from Wilco took an essential part to the sound of this album. Who?
-
Well, as a whole song, I prefer "Sky Blue Sky". I'm not a big fan of Being There anyway.
-
Nitpicking? That similarity is the first thing that jumps to my ears! I don't see any reason to indulge in everything my fave band does. I don't want to hear Wilco doing the same chords with every record.

The thing is 1972 and Nashville, for example, seem to fit the list to me, as it's easy to listen to. So I'm like this:
-
Because I'd like to understand. But now you should apologize for insulting me, don't you think, dickhead?
-
sorry? I'm not criticizing anyone. I just don't get the logic so there.
-
sorry if it's been noticed before (and there are many chances for that), but I won't read the 15 pages of this thread! so: don't you find the title-track too close to "Far, Far Away" musically?
-
trouble is I don't get why Cold Blue Stars and not the rest of Josh Rouse so I can't recommend anything with your logic
-
I will try to find about it. And did you hear of his very early band with David Eugene Edwards, called the Denver Gentlemen?
