  1. No, I don't even now what it is. One of their records or side projects? Or another band?
  2. Same for the 4 Cds box set of Phil Spector available for $20 on amazon. And the package is a dream!
  3. Pitchfork made me curious about some music of the 60's with their Top 200 songs or something. For example, I purchased David Axelrod's Songs of Experience and I love it. On the other hand, I don't like their reviews. But to the contrary of what I've read above, I find most of their reviews pretty well articulated, and "argument
  4. Well, on the first listen of the first six tracks (which is all I've done so far), it's my favorite one.
  5. Mose Allison: Parchman Farm The Drifters: There Goes My Baby Patsy Cline: I Fall to Pieces The Ronettes: Be My Baby Dionne Warwick: Walk On By The Supremes: Where Did Our Love Go?
  6. As far as I can remember, my fave Irish band are the Undertones. But I use to prefer Scottish bands.
  7. Thanks for the links. Be warned for the new Eleni Mandell album: though Nels Cline plays on it, it's actually very quiet and has few to do with his work with Wilco.
  8. I hope you do know that band everyone: it's simply one of the very best of this new century. They do know what melodies are.
  9. There's no point between the Beatles and Beethoven.
  10. "note for note" doesn't mean it was the same, since the songs were pretty simple. The Beatles just didn't mind of doing their songs exactly like on their records, the beat was different, the sound was different, the singing was different. They were just playing it "live", often faster, without necessarily all the verses. All I keep from their live acts is energy, hooks and good ideas.
  11. It's because you miss the point. Actually the best new Beatles out there are those who get their spirit without playing their music. In 1999, I found the best new Beatles album was Summerteeth. Beatles juke-boxes today are just OLD. No they didn't. Their live acts were different from their records.
  12. Everyone is free to watch this concert, as I'm free to put the blame on them.
  13. I can't even understand how would someone be interested to see that kind of show. I find that pathetic. The Beatles themselves would have never played exactly like on their records. That's the thing in music that everyone should understand: there's no perfection: there is just creativity and ideas. I would exchange any new artist's stuff with the most perfect Beatles imitations.
