  1. Damn! That shoots down my hope of seeing him solo or even with Loose Fur. After picking up Insignificance, Half Way To a Three Way and Bad Timing as well as both Loose Fur albums i was really starting to get attached to his work. I have all five on vinyl and am looking for more. Can any one please tell me what other vinyl is available by Jim? Sense my live fix does not look like it will happen anytime soon i guess it's back to the turntable.
  2. The thing about popularity; especially in the music industry, is that it has peeks and valleys. A Band you may love now and that are playing in small venues for a cheep ticket may one day sell out a arena at inflated their ticket prices. But the thing is; if the band sticks together and you stick with it, the cycle will probably come back around to the small venue at a affordable price. It may take a few years for that to happen, but i have found those that jump on the popular "Band Wagon" at the hight of commercial success are most likely people that listen to music as back ground noise
  3. The band blistered thorough it's opening set for the Gourds last night featuring a live treat for us when " Zoysia" was preformed in its entirety and in sequence. The last six songs were introduced by Brian as "Finishing up with some of that old time R&R" playing a tease of Bob Seger's tune of the same name. The latter part of the show leaned heavily on "The Brooklyn Side" closing with a great 7 plus minuet "Welfare Music". It was my first time seeing The Bottle Rockets but i did have the privilege of seeing Brian solo acoustic at the Aardvark on the TCU campus when he opened for a so
  4. Thanks! how in the hell did you find that link? Every search i did came up with nothing. I figured someone here could help. Thanks! BTW this is one outstanding collections. By offering it as a bonus it just sold me on Ray LaMongage. Go get a wilco t-shirt or spend $30 on wilco world and grab this collection. That tune alone is worth the download! dave
  5. i'm not sure. Have the Stripes cover it? it's only a male singer, don't the Stripes have a female singer as well?
  6. Jolene is my favorit track in the collection but it's a male singer and this track is live. Cosmic Charlie sounds like the Dead Nemo is a pretty cool song too, I'll cross check the Umphries mcgee web page if they have one thanks for the help! dave
  7. Can any one please help with the artist track list and source for the Sound Check Vol. 1 Digital Download Sampler on the music direct site. I bought some Wilco stuff and got this download as a bonus and i can't figure out who all the artist are or where the live songs were recorded. thanks for any help offered. here is the track list: Mr High and Mighty Hamoa Beach Cosmic Charlie Jolene Rhyme & Reason - Dave Matthews How to Fight Loneliness- Wilco Nemo Heart and Soul Taught To Be Proud
  8. I was never much of a Stripes fan either but picked "Broken Boy Soldier" up via recommendation from my local indy record clerk. It is a great summertime groove record. The opening track Steady as She Goes rivals any great fun loving summer track in R&R. As far as the record being uninspired... from what i have read about the band their inspiration came from their desire as long time friends to play music together. check it out on their web page under media if you want a taste: http://www.theraconteurs.com/
  9. Thanks for the picts Viatroy, great shots! Your photos were the first time i had seen Tweedy with all the hair. Anyone else think he wares that look as good if not better then Eddie Vedder?
  10. Thanks for the review! i have tickets to the Sept 15 Dallas area gig in my hot little hands. Besides wanting this hot ass summer to end now Sept. 15 can't get here soon enough! Raconteurs on the 15th and The Flaming Lips on the 16th is my indoor ACL weekend.
  11. I'm wondering if Jeff mentioned if the road crew chose the set list being the last show of the tour. It has become somewhat of a tradition with Wilco. I'm gonna need to start making it a point to road trip for the last show of the tour.
  12. He mentioned Lou having a small part in the record when i saw him open for her 3/24/06 at the historic Lakewood in Dallas or it may have been 3/3 in Kansas City i can't remember which. I got a nice recording of the Dallas gig i can share if anyone wants to start a weed or BT it. Send me a pm and let me know if you can help spread it around. I don't have a lot of time but would happy to send out one copy. This is a un-circulated recording that after reading this thread might be appreciated here. dave
  13. Being a taper and one who used to trade a lot and now shares via BT i find public pleas like this offensive. If slight skips or digital blips or ass holes in the audience chatting bother you go to your local indy record store and stick to official releases. I can see complaining about annoying errors throughout a recording that ruin your listing pleasure and wanting a different source because of them but " a slight skip" on one song? It's this type of anal retention and public plea that makes me scared to share my recordings.
  14. More proof that Wilco and Jeff Tweedy are not only the most fan friendly act in rock & roll but also have one great sense of humor!
