Are you say i should not expect my fortune from General Hector Noreaga after sending him my 3 hundred bucks in good faith?!?!? i was going to use the cash to help fund my next ACL weekend and Wilco Australian tour! -
i didn't realize music lovers of bands such as Wilco still listen to commercial radio.

Hey Warner glad you made it home safe! I didn't notice any wind in my recording from my perch but the floor was wood up there and was not very stable, so when ever the guy working the spot light; which was just below my stand would walk by it can be heard. i edited some of the louder thumps out of the recording but my opening set recording sounded much better when i taped from where you ended up. I should have ditched the mic stand and taped my mic bar to the facade of the cat walk. You warned me you were concerned about the floor of the cat walk. That damn martini i had at Jett's and the te

For me there is no sense spending the time uploading and circulating a inferior recording. I would like to give Warner (the other taper) a chance to settle in after his week long Tweedy journey and transfer all the shows he taped and evaluate the quality of his and compare it to mine. I am not comfortable forcing the issue with Warner. I figure when he is ready and has time he will contact me or this board on the quality of his recording. The VC tracker down is anyway. Lately; for whatever reason, people have become vocally critical when shows are uploaded and not of a quality they se

i heard the show was stealth taped but the taper traded his master copy for a Les Paul on the way out of the venue... priorities i guess.

Here is a rough draft of the cover art. If Brianne does not mind me using the picture or Yvon doesn't mind her picture included i'll detail it. dave

After transferring the opening act this afternoon; Will Courtney who is the singer/songwriter of the band Brothers and Sisters and his petal steel player Ricky Swine. The sound was much better than my Tweedy set, and that set was captured where Warner taped Tweedy from. I moved to the cat walk to get above the audience and although the sound is not bad I should have stayed put. I'll wait and see what Warner captured before i release any more. I just wanted to give everyone a early taste of what the show was like with the two files i shared.

Did anyone get a good picture of Jeff that is willing to share so i can make some cover art? If so please send it in HQ Jpeg to thanks! dave

OK here is a sample of some music from Liberty Hall. This download is dedicated to fellow Via Chicago member and the one that requested it Teri Yates. same Wav format... sorry i hate mp3's the sound suffers enough being a audience recording "Gun" unplugged enjoy! http://www.sendspace.com/file/v6qhwb

any surprises in the set list?

They played Good Records in Dallas on the 20th and the place was packed. I noticed at the Granada's upcoming events during the Tweedy gig that same day, they were listed as opening the Lucinda Williams show March 10th

As one of the tapers i had no issue with anything anyone in Liberty Hall shouted that night. I loved the crowd, the venue and the show. It was everything a clear channel event is not. Here is my vote for venue next time Tweedy want's to get intimate with the state of Texas. http://www.gruenehall.com/

Are you sure those looks you were getting were not from the taper you were standing by? Concert attendee etiquette suggest that if your standing by a taper and you know it, you loose the privilege of shout outs, it fucks with the levels. Welcome to via chicago and don't worry the show will surface in due time. We need to see how Warners tape turned out. No sense releasing a inferior recording.

fortunately the only jack ass remarks made in this show were from the artist.

I want to know why "gay" bands out number "safe" bands 76-13? Are these poor, insecure, religious zealots lead to believe gays out number straight's 6-1 in pop culture? What's sad to me is i have a sister-in-law that probably reads and subscribes to this crap, and the killer for me is... she has children!

At the Marfa gig Jeff made clear the song was titled "Black Eye" and not "Black Guy" Maybe the fan was misinterpreting the words and felt Jeff a raciest . Then again maybe the guy was just fucken' with Jeff like so many do when Jeff plays solo?

Here is the venue just before Jeff took the stage taken from my recording perch who the venue manager graciously allowed me access. Also a picture of a few great Marfa residents i met. The Guy is Tom Micheal and runs Marfa public radio 93.5 his wife is in the white sweater and the woman in the cool specs was introduced to me as the Mayor of Marfa, Buck Bosworth. I was not clear if she truly was the mayor but she seemed to know everyone local that was at the gig. Her husband Cam is a accomplished wood working artist and they lived in the oldest church in town. His gallery and work s

185 tickets were sold according to the manager of the venue but because the weather was suspect leading up to the date there were a number of no shows. I would guess there were probably 100 to 120 people there. When i asked about the bathroom i was directed out side, down the alley and follow the path lights about 20 yards away there was only one for both male and female. Also to get by with out a liquor license the venue offered beer and wine by donation only. So if you didn't have any $$ you could just grab one.

One thing needing mention in this thread is, Jeff suggested that all of us who were at last nights gig meet again every year in Marfa for a show. Unfortunately because the tape is encrypted with the secret pass word Jeff came up with for next years Marfa gig the tapes will not be released in mass. Only those that can offer proof of attendance at Liberty Hall Marfa, Texas January 21 2007 will be getting copy's of the recording with the code. Sorry but Jeff didn't bring his tattoo pen as a way to identify those of us in attendance and a password was our solution. i don't want to be the one

After scouring the earth and the net for the past year i finally found a somewhat affordable, glorious, red vinyl copy. So yea i love it
-
i may have a extra ticket to marfa I can meet you at the I20/281 exit at 9 am Sunday morning. I can guarantee you the Marfa gig will be like seeing Jeff in your living room with nary a drunken frat boy around. The room will be filled with music lovers who choose to make journey from far and wide into the middle of nowhere for the sheer love of the music. The only player in the house will be the one on stage with a guitar.

Same here in seeing you again Yvon! Seems like Tempe was just yesterday. I have a feeling Marfa is going to be one special gig. dave
