I posted something to that effect on one of the many "shit on Bruce Springsteen without having a clue as to what he's about" threads that pop up around these parts. They wanted to make a record that captured the sound of the time - Thriller, Cyndi Lauper, Insert 80's MTV Darling with a Bruce twist. Some great, though-provoking, dark lyrics set to some less-than-desirable music. I guess it's only appropriate that the video for "Dancing in the Dark" launched Courtney Cox's career.
