  2. Something about Rosie's bloodshot, alcoholic eyes rub you the wrong way? Not at all.
  3. Massive Kinks binge over the past 6+ weeks or so. As of today, I'd list their top 5 albums as such: 1. The Village Green Preservation Society 2. Muswell Hillbillies 3. Lola Versus Powerman & the Moneygoround, Part One 4. Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) 5. Something Else by The Kinks
  4. Way different scenarios than the AGon/Crawford signings. Shorter years & less $$$. I'm not sure your characterization of Boston trying to "buy a championship" fits here. I'd still do the AGone deal today. Crawford was a terrible mistake that L.A. gladly took off Boston's books.

  6. Fort Recovery was the first Centro-Matic record I heard. I really like it, but this one pulled me in big time. If you like the quieter side of Will Johnson, his solo record, Vultures Await, is excellent, too.
  7. Sad news. They've built up quite a discography over the years. Easily one of my favorite bands from the past couple decades.
  8. Absolutely! Along the Escovedo front, Chuck Prophet's new record, Night Surfer, might fit this thread after a few more listens. Fantastic!
  9. Silver & Gold is a good album. As you point out, it's not a masterpiece, but it is a good record. In my world, Broken Arrow & Greendale are essential pieces in the Shakey canon. I believe both albums were released after or right around the time Neil turned 50.

  11. Nashville-based sleazy, stoner band. Only been together for a couple years, yet have cranked out a number of albums and EPs. Currently touring in support of Black Lips. Most songs about the holy trinity of rock & roll - booze, drugs & sex (women in their case). Lots of loose, ragged riff-heavy rock and blues with splashes of country here & there. Many influences in their sound - Stones, Faces, Tom T. Hall, JJ Cale, Sabbath, Ramones, VU, UT, to name a few. Here are a couple of clips from an in-studio performance for Rollo & Grady: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq-88af4jCw

  13. It's a very good record. It's not on par with their "Holy Trinity" (Southern Rock Opera, Decoration Day & The Dirty South), but that's not a realistic expectation at this stage. I was lukewarm (at best) with the two previous albums, The Big To-Do & Go-Go Boots, but English Oceans is a much stronger release. Both the songs you mention are top-tier Truckers material. I'd also add "Grand Canyon" to that list. They'll definitely play "SSC" when you see them. I saw them a few months ago and, surprisingly, they did not play "Primer Coat." I'll bet my life they close the show with an
