I don't think Clinton has any intention of changing their minds. These people will never vote for Clinton. The quote was pretty awful, not the message she intended mind you, but the way she said it. Basket of Deplorables is super clunky phrasing and generalizing about half was super stupid. Her point was not change the minds of these people, it was to show the right leaning moderates. She is saying that if you support Trump you are casting your lot with racists and bigots. These people, more so in this election then others, have come out in support of Trump. I have always said

This illness couldn't come at a worse time. It is surprising that Trump had not tweeted about it. And so far he has only taken the high road and wished her well, when asked. This after Clinton recently called Trump supporters a basket of deplorable. Clinton needs to release all medical records and have a press conference. Just put it all out there. Be done with it. Also at the debates she needs to utterly destroy Trump. Show what most people know, he has no command of the issues. And his policies both foreign and domestic are dangerous.

Did they do it during the Anthem or afterward? I heard it was the latter. If it was afterwards totally weak and meaningless. If it was during then it has a potential to become a more powerful symbol and action then what kapernick did. It was effective in '68

I went to a High School Football game last night. I arrived just as the Anthem was being played. I was still under the bleachers at the time. So, as you are suppose to do when you hear the Anthem, I stopped removed my hat and faced the general direction of the flag. I was truly amazed how many people just went about their business, talking, getting food, signing up for cell phone plans, etc. Also and tangential to this, it was "Patriot" night or something, which apparently gave the spectators the right to wear the American Flag in all sorts of manner (T-shirts, headbands, hell I even saw

No it is not. He is sitting quietly and probably thinking about what this country means to him. He is respectfully refusing to stand for a country that he feels goes against his beliefs. It would be disrespectful if he made some scene or gesture during the Anthem. He is handling his protest with the utmost respect.

why does anyone care what a second string QB from a middling team does? As with the socks, it is not like Kapernick wore them to a press conference, or on the field during a game (it was practice). He did not mention them. The media is who made the socks a big deal not him.
-
I would have a problem if a second string QB for a team of don't care about was disruptive durning the Anthem (say running out on the field shouting all pigs must die) then what has happened recently. To many patriotism is like religion. If you do not follow a certain type of patriotism you are a terrible person. But who is to say what is patriotism? Plus why do we care about other's patriotism?

Can't see how Trump can complain about the media after last night's fluffer job Lauer did.

Just remember having your charitable organizations receive money and getting perceived and unproven political favors = bad. But having your charity give money for political favors = good.

Which will come first? Clinton holds a Press Conference or Trump releases his tax returns.

So the Trump Doctor thing is super weird, eh? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/08/27/the-strange-tale-of-donald-trumps-doctor-letter-just-got-stranger/ It is surprising to me that Trump and his surrogates have been questioning Clinton's health, when his own health claims are so sketchy. I guess it begs the question, are the health records of a presidential candidate important? Are they more or less important than their tax records? To date, neither candidate has released any full health records (as a note Clinton did release a detailed letter from her doctor i

And Yankee Hotel Foxtrot predicted the attacks on 9/11. Pitchfork is pure garbage.

Amazing how people get older eh? I almost brought my son (12), wish I had. -
I am not sure the ties were as strong, or the influence is a much. I really don't know much about it and have only seen the little blurb you referenced. But honestly, Clinton is not that big of news story. Trump for all of his faults brings in huge ratings for TV. Look at the last couple of weeks, Clinton has hardly been heard from, whereas it has been wall to wall Trump. I don't think the Manafort Ukraine thing really is that big of deal. But because it was involved with Trump and his dumpster fire of a campaign it got covered more. The thing in with media today, it is there to make

All in all a pretty solid show. I am not sure if it was the time, location (outdoors), or what, but the Dad Rock vibe was in full swing on Friday Night. The age average age of the crowd was early to mid Forties. I don't think there was a baby sitter to be found in the city of Madison last night. Also at one point before the show, I had realized it became an impromptu meeting of my kids PTO. With that being said the crowd was well into it. The sound was excellent, though the acoustic set, while neat was tinny and hard to hear, being outside did not help. Nels was on fire per usual. I thi -
Good show, don't have set list, but nothing special. The rain missed us.

THEORY! That is perfect. It is fine to believe in a theory. I am not saying we can't believe this story. I am not saying it isn't true (nor am I saying it is false). I am saying we shouldn't take it as fact. Yes there has been opinion pieces written about this as far back as April (from Salon and national review, etc.) But Moore states in his article, "I know this for a fact." When you say that you better offer proof. He doesn't. That is my issue. It is a fine theory, it is an opinion, it is not a fact. Now, other news organizations are picking up this story. So that is a thing
-
I guess it comes down to belief and truth. You can certainly believe something, but belief does not make it truth. Is the Trump story likely, based upon what we know about him, sure. Is it a fact, not at all. And that what has been bothering me the last couple of days. Is people seem to be having a double standard based upon where the information is coming from. Take the Clinton story from a couple of days ago, when Pharma Bro and others said that she had Parkinson's or whatnot. There is about as much verifiable fact with that story as with Michael Moore's. I just think we need to
-
That is super weird way of looking at things. I am having a hard way of wrapping my head around that logic.
-
Actually that is the definition of untrue. I think this is a silly thing to really discuss, but I have a hard time believing Michael Moore especially when he says, I know this for a fact, but I am not going to say how I know this. That should be a red flag to anyone. Yes we take second hand stories as fact all the time. But often you need to consider the source and the information. You can believe, it certainly sounds something Trump would do, but I will not take it as fact.
-
Some people are saying... Give me a f'ing break. Everyone has lambasted Trump for using this line, or way of thinking. People resoundingly ridicule Trump every time he post something that has no verifiable fact. But of course now that there is a story using the same methods, that has the basis in actual verifiable fact, people jump all over it. Gone are the days of substance. Gone are the days of actual journalism. Let's hold everyone to a higher standard, both Right and Left. Let's call this story what it is, complete bullshit. Stories like this is how we get people like Trump in
