According to the rules is not where the ball lands it is in relationship to the infielder and his ability (or perceived ability) to catch the ball. So where the ball landed is irrelevant.

In four years I am sure we will have talking points beamed directly into our brains. No internet connection needed. Just curious how was the internet coverage back in '96 with Clinton/Dole? -

Stewart had a nice bit last night on the intellectual inconsistency of the GOP as it relates to the Oil Subsidies vs. funding for PBS (and more specifically Sesame Street. http://www.hulu.com/watch/410598 It also makes me question do the talking heads on TV actually understand what they are saying and don't care, or are they just that stupid? What is apparent, from all of the conversations here in the past couple of days, not only should we continue to give subsidies to PBS and Sesame Street we need to drug test them as well. And I think, unfortunately, Cookie Monster will fail, that dud -

Shouldn't the cost thing be enough? When the states don't have enough money for other basic services adding millions of dollars would be a waste. It is called sarcasm and hyperbole. But you are so concerned with welfare recipients and the unemployed being unproductive shouldn't we watch over their daily lives to make sure they not wasting our tax payer money? She wasn't a random blogger, she was the Executive Director of the National Law Project. But you know who has been perpetuating the stereotype, you. Obviously you think that the unemployed and welfare recipients use dr -

So you are willing for cash strapped states to be on the hook for millions of dollars for these drug tests? Because why, you want to make sure people on welfare are productive (and assumingly not wasting your money)? Why not put cameras in all federal housing so we can check on them 24/7? Or how about put a timer on the unemployed TVs so that they only can watch an hour a day. Doing drugs is illegal, if someone is arrested for a drug offense while receiving federal aid, that aid should be suspended. In most states you can't get aid with a drug conviction. So now you then want to test e -

So you never answered my question, why does it make "good sense" to drug test welfare recipients? BTW the "body" thing was a question to you, not an argument. -

Drugs are bad m'kay. If you want to ensure that tax dollars aren't being used to subsidized harmful addictions, then any person who is an employee of the government or receives tax breaks should be drug tested. Really who is to say that the money I get from my mortgage deduction I am not putting in up my nose. I mean if we are serious about the the use of tax dollars not being used for harm addictions then let's do this right. In fact why don't we send a urine sample with our taxes? If we are clean we an extra tax deduction. Welfare recipients are much maligned and an easy target f -

What is the end game with the drug testing? Is it money saving? (which stated before in FLA is not the case). Is it a moral stance against what people do to their own bodies? Is it that you want government involved in another part of people's lives? What do you want to achieve? Why does it make "good sense?" -

Obama looks awesome in that picture. Romney looks like an alien abduction survivor. Really are still on about the 7.8 rate was manipulated? The numbers were not manipulated, any suggestion that they are is absurd. Yes fine throw out the numbers entirely if you don't agree with the methodology. But the BLS has used the same method for years. Just because you don't like the numbers doesn't mean there is a conspiracy behind them. Suggesting such crazy. -
So in the Divisional Series who you got? This is what I think will happen: American League Detroit over Oakland in 4 Baltimore over New York in 5 National League Washington over St. Louis in 3 Cincinnati over San Fran in 5 I don't want to predict beyond that, cause more than likely I am wrong.

Are you just asking or are you worried about yourself? Anyway, there is no laws currently but there has been several purposed. Here is a good "debate" site which gives pros and cons of the issue: http://www.usnews.com/debate-club/should-welfare-recipients-be-tested-for-drugs Of course (like every issue) it really is divided down red and blue lines (Conservatives being for, Progressives being against). But you probably knew that. Florida has a Drug Test Welfare law and apparently it is costing more money then it saves. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/04/20/2758871/floridas-welfare -

Maybe I am not making myself clear. Arguing the way the BLS gathers its data (which is the same way it has done for many years) and who it counts in the data is a good and valid argument and one worth having. Getting the real unemployment rate is important. Which is what I think you are getting at. However, what I have a problem with those who have used the BLS in the past as measure of the economy and now are decrying its findings. By saying some group is manipulating those numbers to re-elect PBO is a conspiracy theory, and factually inaccurate. If someone or some group were manipula -

A couple of things here. It seems the article is talking about two different things here. The way the BLS gets it numbers and if the BLS numbers were manipulated for political gain. It is valid agrument to question how the BLS get's it numbers and I think a conversation worth having. However the BLS numbers for years and then suddenly claim they are cooked in order for political gain, that is definition of Conspiracy Theory. Here is a link to the article that explaines why conspiracy theories about the BLS numbers is basless: http://www.huffingto...hp_ref=business -
Nice win by the O's. Though agree w/ Crow the Rangers looked lifeless. The Texas fans they are showing on the TV look like someone stole their dog. The Yankees / O's series looks good. Same number of series wins (9) and close in batting average against each other (.250s ) and runs scored (5).

I go back and forth on these one game playoffs. In the case of the ATL game it sucks, but the O's v Rangers it is some fantastic baseball going on right now. I really want the O's to win, but if Texas won, I'd be cool with that too. Still gotta keep my O's v Nat's World Series.

On the first part, I totally agree. This is where the true voter fraud occurs, not the phantom fraud the GOP claims. On the second, I would be more more inclined to listen to you if you weren't so damn condescending. There has never been any reason to doubt the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics). If PBO manipulated the numbers it would be the worse thing any president ever did. Also if he could manipulate by the BLS don't you think he would have been manipulating them long before this? Here is an article that explains why the GOP claims are essentially BS. http://news.yahoo.com/does-wh -

Obama made Romney look like a viable alternative. What he needs to show is how complete bad Romney would be. -
Congrats to Miguel Cabrera, nice job on the Triple Crown. First year for the extra wildcard game. In the NL I have Atlanta over St Louis and in the AL I have the upset special, Orioles over the Rangers I would love to see an O's v Nat's world series.

After having a night to sleep on the debate it seems that PBO was just too wonkish. He seemed tired and a bit bored by the whole thing. I think he underestimated Romney, he did not understand the format (or what the format became). Mostly (and I think this is the bothersome problem for many progressives) he did not call Romney out on his BS. There where plenty of times where Romney lied or stretched the truth and PBO did not call him out (the 716 billion form Medicare, Romney and his tax cuts, no mention of the 47%, no mention of Romney's ER plan for healthcare). Stuff we have been debati -

I would have appreciated some input or compromise from the GOP on Health Care so we wouldn't have had to go through the mess we did. I fully believe that the economy would be stronger and we would have a better Health Care system/option in place if the sole purpose of the GOP was to make Obama a one term president. -

Either Mitt Romney or Barack Obama is going to be the next president of the United States. No amount of youtube videos and diatribes on the evils of the Fed and our corporate overlords is going to change that. Do I believe everything PBO says, no. You would be a fool to believe everything a candidate says. Do I wish there wasn't huge amount of corporate influence in politics, of course. Do I wish there is a viable third party candidate, certainly. So why do I support PBO, because his policies are closely to my beliefs than Romney. I want a person who will govern as close as possible
