  1. Jesus fucking Christ. You proud that the GOP's campaign is built on a complete and utter lie? I am so sick of that meme. It is so stupid, and every time I hear a conservative repeating that tired line, it make realize how stupid they are. Yes I know this the "respector" edition or whatever, but you repeat this lie you are an idiot. And glad your video shows that you are petulant little girl who throws a tantrum when you don't get your way? This just shows the differences between the RNC and DNC. The RNC was filled with generalizations and platitudes and if a speaker at the RNC stated
  2. If convention speeches are like grand jury testimonies, he wouldn't be indicted for perjury like most of the GOP speakers last week. So you don't have to look it up yourself here is Bill Clinton's speech fact checked for you: http://factcheck.org/2012/09/our-clinton-nightmare/
  3. Too be fair yes, he should have. It would have made another great point, something like, "look when Republicans actually worked with me and compromised we where able to balance the budget etc. This current group of Republicans are refusing to compromise and just imagine the things we could get done if we had the same level of compromise." Or something like that, Bill would have made the point better. Of course maybe he didn't want to pile on the Republicans too much.
  4. I don't think that the current GOP want to point out that GWB saw the economy completely fail, and his policies lead directly to that. And they didn't want to point out that Romney's policies are pretty much the same as GWB. I am not sure the GOP would have wanted Reagan there since he: Raised the debt ceiling 18 times Raised taxes 7 out of his 8 years as president Raised taxes more than any other peacetime president ever Signed an abortion rights bill (as Governor) Created the first state based emissions standards (as Governor) Expanded socialized medicine (as Governor) And also s
  5. Bill Clinton pretty much knocked it out of the park tonight. That man can deliver a speech. I await the fact checkers though
  6. Sorry bout that. But taking away age with the GOP being nearly 90% white, is my point about the GOP speakers any less valid?
  7. Considering that women are an extremely important part of this election I expect to see a lot them around. (I guess we can't keep them barefoot, pregnant, and making dinner). Joking aside my point was that the RNC seemed to go out of its way to seem like they are inclusive, when statically the make up of the GOP is religious older middle aged white men (http://www.gallup.com/poll/118937/republican-base-heavily-white-conservative-religious.aspx yes I know it is form 2009 but I doubt it has changed that much). And their party platform really seems to cater to this group. Anti-gay, limiting
  8. But I think they paraded every non white, non male they have to speak at the RNC.
  9. probably the people who are the Certified Nursing Assistants that did the majority of your care while you where in hospital
  10. Found this in the NY Times and thought it was pretty interesting. It is a word cloud of common phrases from the two conventions GOP convention word cloud Democratic convention word cloud (obviously this will be updated as the convention goes on).
  11. After rewatching the eps, there was something lacking. If the planet was full of Daleks too crazy for regular Daleks, they sure did act like regular Daleks (just old and broken). It would been interesting to see a Dalek just going apeshit on everything. Or rather a super nice Dalek, other than Oswin of course, that helped the Doctor, cause that would be a truly insane one.
  12. I would also expect people to be honest and consistent on important points. But I wonder if you missed the point here. I don't mean to sound snotty, but did you read Tutu's op-ed? Or did you read the headline and say, well PBO is a sitting president that oversaw a war that killed civilians, so Tutu must declare him a war criminal too. Here is the op-ed: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/sep/02/desmond-tutu-tony-blair-iraq It was not necessarily what happened in Iraq or Afghanistan that Tutu is making his claim, it is the reasoning for going to Iraq in the first place. The l
  13. So the current meme of the GOP going into the DNC is, "Are you better off than 4 years ago?" And so truthfully ask yourself that question. And then ask yourself this question, are you better off than you where 12 years ago? Because here is the rub, the economic plans of RR are nothing more than a rehash of the disastrous policies of GWB. It is a policy of tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, cutting programs and services for the poor and middle class, and deregulation. It is an anti-worker, pro-corporation, pro-wealthy strategy that really screwed us and is continuing to screw us.
  14. After the foreign policy disasters of 2000 - 2008 and the Bush Doctrine, I don't think any conservative has the right to complain about what Obama has done foreign policy wise. Of course I say this with tongue firmly in cheek. 1) Afghanistan - you can't just pull out an occupying force with a snap of the fingers. As much as I would like all troops to come home now, I tend to trust those advisors who see a 2014 timeline as the right course. Bodies bag are coming home which sucks, and sucks big time but that is what war gets ya. Maybe it would have been better if we didn't go in the firs
  15. John Hodgman, kinda wrote the flip side to this article. He stated why he is voting for Obama, even though he doesn't agree with Obama on everything, he still is voting for him. http://90days90reasons.com/13.php Honestly he doesn't get in to the straight up constitutionality and such, but he much more of a pragmatist when looking at elected officials. Also the site where this was written, http://90days90reasons.com/ is pretty interesting. Some good essays by interesting people. They are only up to 27 right now so 63 more to go.
  16. A couple of things to think about 1) We have seen Oswin's face. The Doctor did not, he only saw the Dalek. Maybe in the future when he meets Clara/Oswin he will realize she will become a Dalek and erase her mind (ala Donna) 2) I actually liked the fact I knew she was the new companion. I thought hey, they are introducing her early and she might have a couple of eps with Amy and Rory. But then she turned out to be a Dalek and I was like whoa. 3) She is a genius. How did she become a genius? Was it because of the Doctor? Or because she was turned into a Dalek? 4) Well there is the whole R
  17. Hopefully the next generation will fair better than I did. I took my son to Andrew Bird at the Pabst theatre in Milwaukee earlier this year.
  18. I am not sure if we are talking about the big revel. I was talking about Oswin, not being a Dalek (which I did not see coming and was totally awesome). but Next week Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, and Mr. Weasly as Rory's dad!
  19. just saw it, the amy rory thing makes sense. also did not see the big revel coming. makes other spoilers seem super odd. eps rating 7.5/10
  20. Pretty much spot on. I took this article as more satire rather than the god's honest truth. It was fun to read.
  21. Apparently I was right, Clint has overshadowed old Mitt. I know it is form Maddow, but it lists all of the inaccuracies in Mitts speech (yes I know numbers can be spun, so believe what you want.) http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/08/31/13593775-chronicling-mitts-mendacity-vol-xxxii?lite Is it an over zealous liberal media out to get Mitt? Or is Mitt actually just stretching the truth.
  22. Inferring that PBO is telling Mitt Romney or Clint Eastwood to go fuck themselves, is in bad taste. Though probably the only thing in his speech that was remotely funny, or made any sense. Though having someone respond to things that PBO never said or did was really the theme of the whole GOP convention.
