  1. If Mitt Romney is elected we will have boots on the ground in Iran by the end of 2013.
  2. too bad this did not happen http://youtu.be/cL07e_xjvp0 worst episode ever
  3. The republicans have made a living on getting working people to vote against their interests.
  4. Really this ad is another in the same line that Romney has been repeating over and over again. "Look at me I am not Obama!" That is his entire campaign. "I am not Obama." Does he have any substantive ideas? I really haven't heard or seen one yet.
  5. New voter ID laws passed in 2011/2012: PA, FL, WI, OH, TX, yeah Texas not so much, but PA, FL, WI and OH all battleground states, with GOP control. If voter fraud was such problem why are they trying to get these laws in acted prior to the 2012 election? The GOP is trying give Mitt Romney a leg up, by disenfranchising voters. An ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure? We are down to idioms now? How about throwing the baby out with the bath water? It makes about as much sense. I agree with gogo, But I would also go a step further, I would like the bill show that there is
  6. Sure there is bi-partisan support for this, as to say Jimmy Carter was on the committee that wrote this report. But you have to look at where and how voter ID laws are being implemented. It is in battleground states where the GOP has taken control. I mentioned this before, but I want you to seriously ask yourself, that voter fraud has damaged the integrity of our elections in the past 50 years, that we need now to potentially disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Americans? Are we doing right by The Constitution and the American People?
  7. I actually think "Class warfare" is really a tacit of the Right, more so then the Left. As mentioned previously it was the Welfare Queens sucking on the taxpayer teat. Recently the GOP has pitted the middle class (private sector) against the middle class (public sector). Blaming the public employees with the current economic situation, and needing to balance state budgets on their backs. And really if the left is using class warfare now, pitting the middle and lower classes against the rich, they are throwing pretty pitiful bombs. All that the president is asking is that tax rates for
  8. For those of you who missed it or want to see it again: http://stereogum.com/1103691/watch-wilco-on-fallon/video/ Also can anyone tell me what is up with Mikael's mustache? It is not a good look on him, especially with that pink shirt.
  9. Interesting. Still does not sway me in anyway to requiring ID's. What I think is amusing is that there was a commission to build Confidence in US elections. I really didn't think was a lack of confidence in elections. Other than the 2000 debacle the rest of the national elections seemed to go off without much problem.
  10. I really don't want to get into a pissing match over this but this is in no way what he said. He said this: You, the government, your neighbors, the people you haven't even met yet all helped, and are partially responsible for American success. We can't do it without each other. I am just interested in where in the recent comments (not just cherry picked out of context comments ala Mitt Romney's ad) where Obama wants voters to think the government is responsible success than individuals. You make claims and I want proof. If it is just a feeling or whatever say so.
  11. Just because you say it is clear doesn't make it so. I am really interested in what policies or statements Obama has made that make you think he wants voters to believe CEO's do nothing. Or at least let me know where you got this notion.
  12. Ryan Dempster is still a Cub, I understand the 5/10 rule, but I think Demp's monkeying around is gonna hurt the Cubs and his trade value.
  13. Really? Maybe I am missing something, but has Obama ever said that? Has his policies ever projected that notion? Is this just a feeling that you get, or can you provide examples?
  14. Without government regulations and infrastructure I am pretty sure hell would break loose. What is the problem with having workers, business owners, hell every single person in American, understanding that government has an integral and important roll in our daily lives and success? In this country we really take the opportunities afforded to us for granted. I am not saying we need to bow down and thank the government for every little thing, but what Obama is saying as society we work together and we make great things happen. The second half of the speech gets ignored, but really it ge
  15. I really didn't want to get into this again, hopefully I'll remain less holier than thou for you. Here is an article on the flip side http://www.huffingto..._n_1697980.html Which states in part Which is interesting, considering the only marginally tangible evidence that supported voter fraud in the CS Monitor article was Gov. Corbett's assertion that some democratic precincts showed had more than 100 % of registered voters vote. So is that odd? Yes. Does it prove voter fraud? No. If election officials really worried that there is fraud in that area there is ways of finding th
  16. Only if we promise to argue the opposite view point than we have been for the last 62 pages.
  17. We live in a culture of the 24 news cycle, and the internet. People can't focus for more then 30 minutes on something they are interested it. If it is dry it has to be digested in to easily spewed sound bites. Then people, who think they are smarter than they are, senselessly argue with one another. I am including myself in on this. I have always found this quote by Shakespeare apt when people endless argue, or I see pundits in a rage about things. "It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
  18. This whole concept of "what it means to be and American" line is a bunch of BS. You know what it means to be an American? It means you are either born in the US or have become a US citizen. That is all. You are an American. As an American you can hold whatever crackpot idea you want. You want everyone to be a socialist, fine. You want the government out of everything and we pay no taxes, fine. You think everyone should only wear green on Thursdays fine. As an American you have the right to believe whatever you want. The right (especially after 9/11) throw the term un-American around
  19. I don't think in the quote you provided he mentioned the government. But I understand that it was inferred. Maybe you do not need to know how the government has helped you or other successful people out there, but the current GOP rhetoric and actions make me question if others might need a bit of reminding. The GOP has proclaimed that they are sooo concerned about the deficit, that they need to cut the lazy public sector, and slash benefits and programs, or voting down job bills, but yet when it comes to a marginal tax increase on the wealthiest (actually allowing tax cuts to expire t
  20. Please provide one example of a successful American, who became successful on their own.
  21. The ID debate seems to have run its course, maybe not I don't know. I need to take a break, apparently I need to go back to high school. I think others would welcome a break from my arrogance (not the irony in saying that).
  22. Watching that I had to laugh, talking about how Carlos has returned to form, and he is a new pitcher or what. He is now 4-7 with a 4.20 ERA. Not so hot. Interesting guy for sure, but not a very good pitcher any more.
  23. Pillow, you really get worked up. Take a deep breath and settle down now. I was joking when I said I knew it wasn't gonna be your last comment. On the internet there are never any last comments, everyone thinks of something else or feels the need to respond to something. Sarcasm does not come over the internets very well. I at times been infuriated by your comments, but have enjoyed the discussion, you brought up some well thought out salient points. I just happen to disagree with you on the assertion that getting an ID is not a burden on people. Unfortunately you thought I came off
  24. I knew that wasn't going to be your last word. Yes your assumption is correct, when you think it is not an unreasonable burden to get an ID, I don't think you understand the conditions of those who live in poverty. I guess I am holier than thou. I guess I have to change my user name to Pope Keving II. Beltmann I think put it best, when he stated (and I am paraphrasing here) that election fraud occurs, but not on the level to warrant the potential disenfranchisement of thousands (millions of people). It is an unnecessary law, trying to solve a problem that isn't there, and potenti
  25. This really was the point I have been trying make when you slammed me for being holier than thou. A lot of American's are disconnected to what it is like to be poor. It is easy for most Americans to have an ID, but for some it is not. People see getting an ID as no big deal so these laws are ok. Also you keep bringing up 1960 election, which was ripe with voter fraud. However the fraud was most from the political machine, having the dead vote, stuffing the ballot box, crooked poll workers etc. How would voter ID have solved this?
