Forgot to mention when I spoke to the band in Dublin last week, one of them (can't remember who) mentioned there'd be a live DVD released at some point.

Was in there both nights taking some pix for skyArts (business and pleasure you understand! - my stuff will be up sometime tomorrow on SkyArts.co.uk) - normally its three songs before photographers have to move out but the guys knew me and very kindly allowed me to stay on the second night (I owe you one guys). watching the soundcheck first night in Dublin then spending the whole gig in the photo pit second night, having the piss taken out of me by Jeff onstage and then spending an hour or two with the band in their hotel bar having a Guinness or two at the very end of their tour. ole!

Very special for me on two counts. 1....I was the butt of the Burt Bacharach joke (gobsmacked, yes! embarrassed, double yes!!) - had been right in front of Pat inside the photo pit for the entire show (a favour from the fantastic friendly guys at the venue who knew me) - I'll put some of the pix I was allowed to take from during the first three songs up soon. 2....Went back to the hotel after the gig to share a laugh with Jeff about the Bacharach gag (he shook my hand as he was leaving the stage at the end of the gig and said with a grin 'You DO look like Burt Bacharach!' Yes, setlist was different to what was played Poor Places was scheduled before Spiders but never appeared and Via Chicago was on the setlist too but not played. California Stars was not on setlist but was played, ditto I Got You. I was at the soundcheck where they played Remember The Mountain Bed, Far Far Away and Either Way. Glenn was saying during soundcheck ' we should play Either Way ' tonight ' but it never happened. Was then asked to leave by tour manager via the locals. Touche! I'll be there with my wife who doesn't know much about Wilco - will try to persuade her to come to both nights, if not it'll be the last night. I hope there'll be plenty of difference in the setlists for the two nights. I suspect Jeff will do his 'who was here last night?' routine on night two, and if he gets a big cheer the set will change accordingly. I love spontaneity! SFA are great yes, met them backstage at Brixton a few years back - top blokes. As it happens even without Wilco first week in Nov is a good one for gigs in London. SFA at The Roundhouse, and that Shins gig at Hammersmith (Nov 7th) clashes with The National at Shepherds Bush Empire which is about a mile up the road! Tough choice to make but National win out this time round as the excellent St Vincent (Annie Clark ex Polyphonic Spree) is supporting - I've also seen The Shins several times before including earlier this year in London. When all's said and done we are spoiled for gigs here,

Guys, I will put up my version of the show onto sendspace if anyone wants it but have held fire because as you'll see on the other thread some of the technofiles reckon the stream is best accessed by torrent. I recorded mine straight off the archive and for whatever reason the files are very large WAVs. Some of the clued up techno savvy guys reckon it's compressed not lossless however, and that torrent is the way to go. Not sure what it's all about really - my version sounds good to me - I've put some up on other threads already - let me know if anyone wants some more.

Way I see it is that soundboard or webcast has to be more listenable to the non-diehard fan. It just sounds more like an official recording than anything that comes out of the audience. And I say that whether its compressed or not. Most people really can't tell the difference anyway.

Analogman whats your take on this? How can a torrent be any better quality if its come from the same original source ie the stream?

Mate its all a mystery to me. What I do know is that the files are large and the streaming was at 1500 kbps or therabouts. Files do not appear compressed. What differemce will a torrent make if these are not large WAV files?

Love both bands - but Wilco win hands down on stage, they are such a 'live' band now that I just wish they'd record the next album live (new songs) and release it like that. In fact, I can't listen to the studio version of SBS now , nor even watch the accompanying DVD in the loft without thinking how flat they are compared to the stage recordings I have. Shins have released some lovely indie tunes but don't have as much presence on stage. Someone I know referred to SBS as 'dad-rock' the other day, a term I find very derogatory, but if SBS was the first thing you'd ever heard of Wilco you m
