  1. OK Wendy - my sincere apologies. I was just being playful and provocative, didn't mean to offend anyone. Still learning the rules here.... cursing ok, dirty talk not ok. Got it.
  2. In case anyone hasn't saved the New Posts url, here it is: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?act...amp;CODE=getnew
  3. Vote, yeah...."if you can". Blackout.
  4. Yeah....I think Tweedy could do an awesome Chimes Of Freedom. And a bunch from Freewheelin', especially Girl of the North Country and Bob Dylan's Dream.
  5. Same here....both with IE 6.0.2 and Firefox.Meant to add; can't edit my posts, the buttons are all weird and don't work. I can post but the buttons below are tiny (and unlabeled), the left one works for posting tho.whoa indeed - my two posts above got contantenated into one. :PI also had some database error messages a little earlier, but the posts worked. Then everything went batshit.Make that three. Etc.
  6. Yeah, past matchups count, I guess. IF you missed them the first time AND would kill your sister for a shot at the wayback machine.
  7. ...the "White Stripes jam with Inuit elders" topic got me thinking. (uh oh...) It's generally pretty lame when big stars "get together" to jam live, but there have been some great exceptions. I would really love to see this version of Wilco on the stage with Bob Dylan - before it's "too late" if y'know what I mean. They just seem like peanut butter and jam. I'd have Tweedy singing a few of Dylan's songs, and vice versa. F'rinstance, I think Jeff could do justice to some Blood On The Tracks cuts (to me, SBS is his BOTT...even if it's ultimately more triumphant than defeated). Maybe
  8. Interesting comments. I tried to clarify what I meant by "heavy" in the poll 'question' -- "Hardest rocking track on SBS". But I suppose it's whatever that means to you. To me it implies physical intensity in the performance- generally hard driving guitar work and/or hot lickin' rythm section work. Preferably both at the same time. What's been cool for me is listening to how Tweedy arranges (some of) the songs, starting softly, building into a rockin' chorus / middle section, and in many cases ending the song on a soft note again. Maybe not the first time anyone's done it, but the gu
  9. I remember hearing a few months ago that Youtube and Viacom had reached a deal (last year?) to legitimize about 100,000 clips of their content. And then it fell through and now Google - who bought YT - has a big ass lawsuit on its' hands. Something like that.
  10. thanks, and feel free to delete these posts. (I can't)
  11. ignore. ummm....trying to replace 'Misunderstood' with a personal statement. do I need 500 posts to do that or something?
  12. Pretty close race so far. Fwiw, I voted for both Hate It Here and Shake It Off. Both punchy as all hell and they come across with a lot of impact in concert.
  13. Lost the disk that came with my 17" LCD. I use it with a Dell 640 laptop and I think I could improve the display a bit, with the right drivers (?). Plus some other minor issues. Have searched to no avail.....can anyone help.
  14. Ahhhhhh............ ROFL. Well it's never too late to become a slimy music critic, just point it to amazon.com or whatever. The pay stinks but it's fair.
  15. +1 42 end of this month. All my most vivid memories are from 13-20, so I still think I'm young at heart....or sumthin'. I wear my slippers out too. But I ride fast motorcycles. And I ride them hard. Better to burn out than to fade away etc. Getting old sucks donkey balls!
  16. Hey, I love Walken.....an instant roots classic if there ever was one. Reminds me of some of Big Sugar's better stuff. It just doesn't even kick as hard as 2-3 other tracks on SBS. IMHO... Picking the mellowest song would be a no-brainer... Pls Be Patient. Picking a FAVORITE track....right now, would be, uhh.. impossible.
  17. Posted the poll because I'm having a hard time deciding, myself. Shake It Off and Hate It Here are about equal.. for me. The guitar solos on YAMF and SWTS are great though, especially the end of Seeds.... I def disagree with whatever reviewer said Walken is the hardest thing the band has done in years. Whaddo music critics know anyway, they're one rung above lawyers and used car salesmen.
  18. Most intense, most wicked guitar/drums, always gets you up dancing, whatever... Vote for more than one, IF you think it's a tie.
  19. Here's a shot at being objective about this.... my one tiny criticism of Sky Blue Sky: I could live without the violins on Either Way. (still love the song anyway... and I'm not anti-fiddle, I love it on Jesus etc for example) That's it. (listening to it again here now..)
  20. Not surprised at all...and all the more predictable to do it on the week of July 4th when everyone's out shopping for fireworks. Borrows a page from recent Canadian govt's, they love to do that sort of thing. Make an announcement at the end of Friday on a long weekend, adjourn parliament and get the hell out of town. By Tuesday no one cares, including the media.
  21. Yeah me too....except when it comes time to move. 30 boxes worth, trying to keep them in the same order....lot of sweat. Friends will help you move them ONCE... and never again. OTOH, my 10-year-old's friends all think I'm "cool"; so hey it's all worth it. lol
  22. That's pretty typical... Sundazed prices are usually a bit lower (Scorpio as well but quality is crap), but most of what Classic Records, Speakers Corner, etc are pressing goes in the $30-40 range. Most everything involved with GOOD analog is pricey, and has been for many years now. Digital audio has come a long way lately, and it's pretty hard to "justify" vinyl now - unless you collect semi-rare music, are a hardcore audiophile... or a DJ. M2C anyway...ymmv. In defense of the suppliers --- there is really not much money to be made on vinyl in 2007. And that's a fact, not my opinion. Luc
  23. Starbucks (and VW) are brand new Wilco initiatives, none of their previous discs were available there. This is part of a conscious effort by the band, like it or not.
  24. Buddy of mine who would've never heard of Wilco bought SBS at Starbucks, and he's digging on it. Corpoganda rulez.
