  1. As for Lu, it's her best album since Essence.
  2. i actually like it. it's SO much better than their overblown/overproduced 2nd record. amazing? no. but it's a lot of the frenetic energy that made the first one interesting + better production. full disclosure... i'm friends with them and designed their new website.
  3. as great as Delta Spirit are live, i like Dawes live more... they're my favorite newer live band and i've been lucky to have seen 'em 6-7x in the last 18 months and they only keep getting better.
  4. SO so good. my fave record this year still.
  5. just curious... when did you first hear Pablo? i feel like for me at least it was pretty refreshing when it came out, esp. compared to the rest of the British music at the time. sure the production isn't great and sounds dated, but there's still 4-5 absolutely top notch guitar rock songs on there.
  6. it's been growing on me this week... i just wish it was a bit more uptempo 2 of the 4 bonus tracks on the 10" that came with the limited edition vinyl are really good too
  7. The Bends OK Computer In Rainbows Kid A Hail to the Thief Pablo Honey Amnesiac King of Limbs
  8. i can see that... but at the end of the day, it comes down to having great songs... they're either there or they aren't. no matter if it's experimental electronic music or traditional guitar rock, etc. If i wanted to listen to straight up electronic music, there are plenty of artists I would rather put on than Radiohead. Kid A & Amnesiac, while not my favorite RH albums, they at least were one of the best examples of great melodies/pop songs mixed with bits of electronic embellishments along with traditional instruments. i feel like this latest attempt is them just treading water a bit and
  9. Pablo has 4-5 songs i consider complete classic Brit guitar rock songs: You, Ripcord, Prove Yourself, Anyone Can Play Guitar & Blow Out. it was a refreshing listen in '93. sure it hasn't aged well production-wise, but those songs still hold up for me. as far as what albums i like more... gotta run to lunch, more later .
  10. i think that's what needs to be stressed is not the album's number of tracks or actual length, is that like you said, it feels unfulfilling/unfinished to me
  11. are you really that surprised though? i mean just because you like it, that doesn't mean you can't look outside your own preferences... i mean you should definitely know by now that feeling like the last 2 are their best albums is very much a minority position no? not saying that makes it better/worse/wrong/right, just stating a fact. i'm not surprised in the least this is getting "lukewarm" reviews by Radiohead's standards, as it's certainly my least favorite RH album. notice i didn't say it's bad, it's not, it's still a very good album, just not one of the best things i've heard this yea
  12. actual Pfork review/score: 7.9 http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15149-the-king-of-limbs/ pretty fair review too
  13. Pfork review is up a bit early... http://pitchfork.com/albums/reviews/15168-the-king-of-limbs/
  14. sorry, i'm with bjorn on this... def not all that "dance-y" of beats on here, not for me.
  15. ahh, ok. i figured he's pretty damn busy recording now when he's not playing anyway

  17. yeah, i got word my pre-order shipped Friday
  18. glad to hear i'm not alone on that, it's not even in my fave 10 albums of the year at this point either Greg Kot has posted his review: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2011/02/album-review-radiohead-king-of-limbs.html 2.5 outta 4 stars
  19. ^^ wish I loved that more than I do considering how much I LOVE Dawes & Delta Spirit (and like Deer Tick), but there's certainly a decent bit to enjoy on it, and it's at least better than Monsters of Folk. mostly excited for the tour
  20. listen to the riff on LBL then I Might Be Wrong & Knives Out, that song creeped me out at first because it sounded so much like other RH songs that I couldn't place it until I went back and checked
  21. eh, if any band is ripe for going in with no expectations from album to album at this point, it's RH. you never know what you'e gonna get, therefore i don't even bother getting my hopes up, i'd rather just be pleasantly surprised like I was with In Rainbows. as for Amnesiac, it's my 2nd to least favorite RH album now after this one, but at least that one has 2-3 truly amazing songs that would be in my top 25 RH songs. again, I hardly dislike this record, but there's not a ton for me to get my blood flowing either. like i said, the last 3 songs are really lovely and it'd have made a great 4
  22. BEST THING EVER. week = made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xgeT2hzxrQ
  23. eh. my faith in Wilco after the last 2 albums is about as much as my faith in Christianity (ie: none)
