  1. not really feeling this too much... it's not BAD, but it's pretty generic rock ala his RNR album (although i loved a few on that one). i suppose it is mostly all b-side/outtakes though. best song on the first disc was already released as 'France'
  2. they have recorded a new album that should be finished in the next month and be out in late spring/early summer!! Exclusive: Classic Jayhawks Lineup Recording First LP In 15 Years Band is also contemplating playing 'Tomorrow The Green Grass' and 'Hollywood Town Hall' straight through in concert The Jayhawks recording in November of 2010, Minneapolis, Minnesota. 3. i've always felt those albums had so-so sound, as great as the songs are, so i'm curious to hear the remasters
  4. suppose it's worth putting in this thread too: The Jayhawks - 2011 Tour Dates 01/18 Toronto, ONT The Phoenix 01/20, 21 New York, NY Webster Hall 01/22 Philadelphia, PA TLA 01/27, 28 Chicago, IL The Vic 01/29 Minneapolis, MN First Avenue and Louie, they're remastered

  6. it's just a very very forgettable song imo. i honestly forgot who i was even listening to 1/2 way through my first listen to it this morning... no lie. uninspiring vocals & some really bad lyrics to boot. sure hope the releases offer up a LOT better stuff.
  7. Just Breathe is easily my least favorite PJ song put out on a studio album, surpassing Parachutes & Thin Air
  8. new song 'Destroyers' http://consequenceofsound.net/2010/11/18/check-out-ryan-adams-destroyers/ it's not good.
  9. the reason the new album isn't coming out until May is because Taylor has an album he recorded with the lead singers of Delta Spirit & Deer Tick called 'Middle Brother' that is coming out in March. all 3 bands are going to tour together in March/April as well. the drummer for Middle Brother is Griffin from Dawes too
  10. Amazon counters and lowers the price of the stereo & mono box sets to $129, almost 60% off retail: http://www.cultofmac.com/amazon-responds-to-beatles-itunes-debut-by-radically-lowering-prices/69709
  11. nah. it rules my fave 4 are def Vs./No Code/Vitalogy/Yield, which the order can change on any given day.
  12. i absolutely love it, especially when it goes into that instrumental breakdown... reminds me of some Built To Spill jams, or Crazy Horse even. they played another new one i hadn't heard last night called 'A Little Bit of Everything' that is pretty sad starting out, but is a pretty sweet song by the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcaJsUNA_ww the entire show was just amazing tho. they almost sold out First Ave (1700 capacity), which is 3x bigger than almost anywhere else they played this tour and their biggest headlining show yet they said. they also dedicated 'My Way Back Home' to
  13. awesome! can't wait for tomorrow's show but i'm bummed ours isn't with Vetiver too. bummer you didn't catch some of Peter Wolf Crier's set. i'm friends with them here, great guys and a pretty cool band to boot. all of the new stuff i've heard Dawes play (4-5 songs now) have been fantastic, especially Fire Away and How Far We've Come (w/ Griffin on vocals).
  14. new song is just OK imo... not bad, but not great either. def sounds a lot like REM, which makes total sense. put me in the camp that didn't love Hazards and actually only loves the first 2. hoping for a bit of a return to that.
  15. Roger & David were spotted eating together last night in Minneapolis... so if anyone is going tonight in Omaha or tomorrow night in St. Paul... you may be in for a real treat
  16. Ben Harper stopped being good after he released Burn To Shine. he's put out a few great songs since then but never a full album. Relentless7 was my least favorite thing he'd done honestly
  17. fwiw, Justin has never had much of a relationship with his father nor was he involved in his upbringing really. and i'm surprised people aren't aware that he was kicked out of the Dukes by his father because he was hooked on heroin (he got hooked on hard drugs by the time he was 12). it's sad that he has relapsed, but i can't say i'm not surprised. when i saw him at the Taste of MN earlier this summer, after he played a killer set a friend asked if he wasn't busy doing anything later that his band was playing not far from where the Taste was being held and Justin thanked him for the offer
  18. he still plays as the duo plenty... i saw him this summer and it was just he and Josh Hedley on fiddle/vox
  19. no it totally makes sense to anyone who has seen him... he's just a born entertainer/charmer
  20. minus 4-5 songs i didn't LOVE Midnight at the Movies. new one is fantastic, but a few arrangements are a bit overdone at times. dude is absolutely amazing live though... i like him more than his daddy already
  21. first new full length album in 9 years and it's freakin' AWESOME. already way better than their last one. the song 'Fractures In Plaster' is killing me stream it here: http://www.npr.org/t...oryId=129480411
  22. you can stream the album via NPR here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129578095 it's f'n awesome.
  23. the album is pretty forgettable for sure... but it's probably still better than the last one. that said, i saw them 2 weeks ago and they were still pretty solid live as for Foals... i def prefer their previous album to this new one find the new Black Mountain kind of wussy for the most part too, they've lost almost all of their sludge. some of it sounds like Wolfmother
