  1. At Dawn & It Still Moves are both better than Z by a country mile for me, regardless of their length.
  2. they only sold 300 copies of the purple online, the other 1700 are at indie retailers. you can find which ones have it here: http://highviolet.com/indieretail/
  3. it's way better than the S/T for me. the muddied vocals & weird production on that one ruined a lot of it for me.
  4. the first album had a few really great songs, but their real strength is live, they kick major ass
  5. while i do like the latest Frightened Rabbit album, i much prefer their previous two, especially 'Midnight Organ Fight' Delta Spirit's new album is pretty sweet, but a lot mellower than the first
  6. re: Streets of Fire, correct. Jackie is great, but i really like 2 of his 3 songs on Together a LOT
  7. Twin Cinema has 4-5 amazing songs, but a bunch i don't really care for either. Bejar's songs on there aren't my favorite as far as his New Pornos stuff goes either.
  8. ditto. i like it WAY more than Challengers. might actually be my 3rd favorite behind Electric Version and Mass Romantic.
  9. seriously, that's bad. i think i might need
  10. oh crap, i knew that. i even tweeted about it when it happened, haha... total brainfart was thinking they decided to wait for the physical release this week, but now i remember them reviewing it based on the digital i'm getting senile
  11. it's a blast. the album cover does kinda fit the music/aesthetic tho sorta curious if Pfork will hate it or love it, kinda feel like there's not gonna be any middle ground with them.
  12. awesome. i love it as well. still far too early for me to say if i like it as much as the last 2, but i'm certainly not disappointed with it in the least. that new Sharon album is fantastic too. i didn't love 100 Days, 100 Nights as much as Naturally, but this one is up there for sure.
  13. i didn't get into the 2nd one nearly as much. a few great songs, but kinda found it a bit too glossy/overproduced for my taste. i went back and listened to it yesterday and still felt similarly. it's def worth checking out for those not familiar w/ him tho for sure.
  14. SAAAAD his first album was frickin' badass
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8llwu5h5tgU&feature=player_embedded
  16. listen to 'Australian Winter' http://stereogum.com...urce=mp3streams pretty gorgeous stuff
  17. i've always said they remind me of the Polyphonic Spree fronted by Johnny Cash (or at least he wants to be vocally)
  18. i have a hard time getting over the fact that he was the dude in Ima Robot, so i find his faux-hippie deal a bit much, but i dig some of their songs. however, Home was one of the more overplayed songs last year here locally, to the point where i get annoyed whenever i hear it now. the Twin Cities are their biggest market in the entire country by a wide margin, and as a result they're playing here in June (w/ Dawes thankfully) and again in August, and played here 3-4x last year.
  19. Sink or Swim has some of Gaslight's best songs (I'da Called You Woody Joe, Drive, and We're Getting A Divorce, You Keep The Diner), but the production leaves a lot to be desired. cliched or not, Bring It On is one of the better songs on the record too imo (which maybe says a lot, idk). i never even thought about that stupid movie (haven't seen it), so thanks for that
  20. sadly i agree... those are definitely my 2 favorite songs. i do kinda like Diamond Church Street Choir tho... Brian does his best Van Morrison on that one. definitely doesn't touch Sink or Swim or '59 Sound for me, but i'm still excited to see them again in July
  21. the Modest Mouse covers had some amazing versions, but was hit or miss for me. i like his AC/DC covers more.
  22. it does fit in the context of the video (which is fairly cool, if not a bit over sensationalized), but i heard the song on it's own (it's obviously shorter) and wasn't very impressed.
  23. yeah? i think it sounds like a pretty generic attempt at a punk song (albeit with the Suicide sample). then again she's never done much for me besides 3-4 songs i suppose.
