i'm the same way... Bleeding Heart Show is AMAZING, but overall it doesn't do it for me like Electric Version or Mass Romantic did.
-
i LOVE 3-4 songs on the record, but a lot of it is very same-y and a bit more drone-y than I usually like. gonna check him out live next week anyway tho
-
kind of amazed he's playing a 2500 seat theater here for nearly $50 after fees... i'll have to live w/ the show i saw last year at the 400 Bar (it was just good not great tho, and i've seen him put on a very campy/lame show just after Illinois came out)
-
OH MY GOD. Calexico are opening all of those dates above minus LA & Big Sur (not sure on Big Sur yet tho)
-
his band Maktub are pretty great as well, saw them years ago. he's a Montana boy too!
-
Win is 6'4", Stewart is like 5'5"
-
i did. it was the best of the 15x i've seen them now too. it truly felt like a turning point in their career type of show, playing to 50-60k opposite Soundgarden who probably only drew 30-40k
-
i believe the numbers were 97k of that 156k were digital and of those 97k, 62k were from Amazon's $3.99 sale. but it's worth noting the sale was Amazon's decision, not the band or label.

different strokes i guess. The National have made a pretty big evolution from their first album in 2001 imo.
-
not a fan of Tindersticks or Leonard Cohen either? Matt's vocals certainly aren't for everyone, but i love 'em and don't find the National or his vocals depressing whatsoever, esp. if you actually listen to what he's saying. even a song like 'Sorrow' on the new album is super upbeat to me, as dark as it sounds. as for Arcade Fire vs. The National, ehhhh Apples to Oranges. both are 2 of the best bands of the 00's and currently going today for me, and they're both friends/peers. Boxer blew away Neon Bible in 2007 for me, but this year it's gonna be darn close between High Violet & Subu

the LP is just the original one (ie: bottom row 2nd from the right) this is also $3.99 from Amazon MP3 today
-
sweet! thanks. i wonder if Target will have any of the 8 different CD covers or just the LP
-
my fave 2 songs for sure. after that, Sprawl II, We Used To Wait, Ready To Start, and Rococo probably
-
just curious, but why would that have any factor on how much you like or don't like an album? i'll admit i still do like High Violet more than The Suburbs for NOW, but i could see that changing.... which at the start of this year i thought there was no WAY that Arcade Fire's album would even come close to a new National record, considering in 2007 how much better Boxer was than Neon Bible.
-
to be honest i always felt they gave Funeral a bit TOO high of a score, as great as that record is
-
she has a similiar tone to her voice as Neko, but she's nowhere near as great of a singer (yet) obviously. but listen to OLD Neko records and then listen to Best Coast... it's a bit of Neko mixed w/ Liz Phair & Courtney Love

1) the new Blitzten Trapper just flat out SUCKS. doesn't put me to sleep, just annoys me, and Furr was my #1 of 2008 and Wild Mountain Nation was pretty high in 2006 . but if you think it's the 2nd most boring album of 2007, I can recommend you plenty of albums to take that title. 2) I agree that there's no song on here as great as Tunnels, Rebellion, or Wake Up, but there's PLENTY songs better than 7 Kettles, Une St Lumiere, and Crown of Love for me. 3) just as much if not more energy as Neon Bible, but musically it's certainly more refined/tuned. way better album than Neon Bible imo... whic

here's my review for a local Mpls blog: this thing is getting just INSANELY great reviews across the board: http://www.metacriti...fire/thesuburbs and i've heard that it may get a higher score from Pfork than Funeral as well
-
i guess... honestly i only really love 5-6 Gorillaz songs and don't like the new album much at all i'm sure it'll be a fun show, just not one i'm down for spending more than $30 on
-
sucks that tickets are $50-100 before TM fees
-
it is indeed an awesome track. i think my fave is either Empty Room or City With No Children, but Sprawl II is up there
-
it's actually seafoam green
-
i don't necessarily find it too LONG in terms of album length, but there's 2 songs i'd def cut from the record (Month of May & Deep Blue). MoM is a fun rocker, but it doesn't fit the albums sound & theme that well and should have been a b-side. i mean you could easily argue the White Album & London Calling are "too long" too, but doesn't diminish how great those records (not saying Suburbs is that good, just an example)

wow... that's too bad i actually have tickets to Neil here in MPLS on Thur
