they recorded 38 songs for the album, so we'll see. Intervention (first single from Neon Bible) didn't wind up being in my top 5 on the album either.
-
could be... but i think from what we've seen/read so far, it's definitely a concept album, or at the very least has a VERY strong theme of The Suburbs
-
both songs are linked at that blog above now
-
comes out in 2 weeks i think? i honestly don't love it ... not nearly as good as their last 2 for me unfortunately. still a few pretty sweet songs tho.
-
hear Month of May here: http://blogs.1077the...-may-full-song/ keep in mind this is a vinyl->FM->webcast rip, lol
-
just heard both songs on Zane Lowe's show... he's gonna play Suburbs again at the end of his show (40 min or so) after this Deftones session: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/radio1 Month of May is a pretty awesome rocker that sounds kind of Queens of the Stone Age-ish, Suburbs is really great too
-
the Minneapolis show sold out 60,000 tickets in under 2 hours... as for rehearsals... they had already started setting up the stage in Salt Lake City for the rehearsals (there's videos and photo footage if you don't believe me)

i like a few Bright Eyes records a LOT, but Conor's songs on MOF don't do a thing for me really (Man Named Truth has especially awful lyrics) that whole MOF album was insanely disappointing considering the artists involved, but i dug a few of Matt's songs a lot.
-
definitely better than the original version...
-
might still be some small tweaks here and there, but thanks for your patience

the melody of the piano on Suburbs reminds me of Badly Drawn Boy's 'Something To Talk About'
-
http://www.arcadefire.com/ 30 second preview of the single 'Suburbs' and the b-side 'Month of May' Suburbs starts off really honky tonk, but with that organ it makes me feel like it's gonna go into something totally different sounding altogether. Month fo May is the punkiest thing they've done and sounds pretty awesome

as good as it is, she could have cut 3-4 songs and it'd have been even better, but oh well

The Black Keys new album - "Brothers"

could be, but he prefaces it to seem like 55 minutes = far too long for any record -
damn. looks like HV is #3 and not #2, Lady Antebellum just inched them out for #2

The Black Keys new album - "Brothers"

but there's only one song on the album that doesn't completely rule ('Go Getter') it just bugs me that some younger folks can't enjoy an album that's only 55 minutes long Pitchfork has always WAAAAAY underrated The Black Keys, so it's no surprise (if not still a bit annoying) -
after a good month of listening... i'm pretty sure it's my favorite album of the year over Besnard Lakes, Beach House, and Anais Mitchell now
-
'High Violet' is the #2 album in the country this week behind Justin Bieber
-
this is AWESOME. way better than I expected from hearing most of it live a few months ago. def one of my favorites of the year so far.
-
ahhhh. i gotcha now well, The National are playing 2 nights in Minneapolis on 8/5 & 8/6
-
ditto... no contest for me. although The Dodos are opening for New Pornos at that show... then again, The Antlers are opening for The National
-
yeah that's Sufjan. holy crap is that performance ever great
-
i don't like Val Jester either. had they replaced that song with 'Driver Surprise Me' that album would have been WAY better than it already is.
-
i like it a lot, but it's one of their weaker full lengths for me. however, based on the title of his post (ie: banjo) i can see what he meant, they traded the banjo & acoustic guitars for a mostly piano driven affair this time.

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)

It Still Moves possibly, but not At Dawn really
