i know someone who shot with a nice DSLR, i'll link to them when his review is up.oh yeah, Nels sat in with Low on lap steel on their first song. There was a lot of good natured ribbing of Nels and the whole chicken pox deal by the crowd and even Jeff. someone had made shirts that sayd "Nels Cline Gave Me Chicken Pox" with a cute little cartoon chicken w/ pox. Nels got one even .

so i leave Mpls at 4pm and it's about 95... about 40 miles out of Duluth i see fog & clouds rolling in and notice the outside temp on my gauge drop to about 65 in a matter of probably 15-20 miles. it was probably no warmer than mid 50's when Wilco went on (if not colder) ridiculous fog rolling off Lake Superior for tonights show, but it made for a pretty memorable time and at least the rain held off, it was mostly just high winds, fog, and some misting. setlist the best i can recall (order is off after a bit but i think i got all the songs at least): Either Way You Are My Face I Am T

i haven't heard her newest album, but the track from it i heard seemed a bit country-ish, which surprised me, cuz when i saw her a few years ago she was more in the Sheryl Crow style (but much MUCH better mind you).

that song is good

i dig her... but saving rock and roll????

until Pirates of the Caribbean 4 comes out?

so yeah, i'm pretty sure i'm skipping this Mpls show... just too many shows that night to choose from, and Wilco for $40+ in a gigantic theater isn't my idea of fun. i'll be taking in Bob Mould's set + Q&A + DVD Screening at the Bryant Lake Bowl (holds like 100-ish), then maybe some of Spoon's set @ First Ave before i head over to Dr. Dog @ the 400 i figure the Duluth show on Tuesday will more than satisfy me until spring

Best: any of the numerous First Ave shows from '99 to '01 Worst: not the biggest fan of them at the Auditorium either honestly... only saw them at Eagles once but it wasn't THAT bad... then again at GA shows i hang out by the soundboard where it sounds pretty good no matter what venue. honestly i've been to MUCH worse venues than Eagles Ballroom (Roy Wilkins Auditorium here for one, the Aragon isn't much better)

pretty sure Champion is the best song on here... at least for now
-
yeah... that song is pretty damn bad, i noticed it last night on my 2nd listen hmm... funny you should say that about the second half, because i feel like the second half is definitely weaker than the first.... those first 4-5 tracks are just really hard to top. i guess i prefer his more uptempo and fun stuff though and the less R&B-ish the better.

it's fucking great. while i haven't been his biggest fan, he's only gotten better with each album IMO...
-
it is... easily tops the first one for me (i only found that one to be decent with a few amazing songs) and the new Sharon Jones f'n OWNS
-
TC didn't do a whole heckuva lot for me either save for a couple songs, but enjoying this one a ton. granted not as much as the first 2 either... i just love their super catchy pop stuff, rockin' or not
-
we love boring music together, yay!
-
i don't like it quite as much as Treble yet either they're touring with a pretty fun band from Chicago called Office (just really solid power pop)
-
boy you're just a barrel of fun aintcha i can see it not being your (or other peoples) thing, but boring? after the slower intro (which did you even make it past?) it's hard for me to take someone seriously when they call it "boring" maybe offer up some actual critique...

the end riff of this song reminds me of The Cure's "Friday I'm In Love" meets Dinosaur Jr's "Start Choppin'"

play them both though and they're quite different... MiaB is a huge stretch to play for one but you're right, they are a somewhat similiar progression
