  4. i think the songwriting took a step up and the music a slight step backwards after Hagar joined
  5. i saw them in '86 and '92 w/ Sammy, both were amazing. the '86 show was on Sammy's b-day and they dug out some crazy shit and played forever. i'm sure those early shows w/ Dave were just incredible too, but probably as much due to the rest of the band's youth than Roth's energy.
  6. there was still some fucking truly great songs during the Van Hagar era... especially on 5150 and F.U.C.K. Roth was the showman, but i think Hagar has the better pipes (certainly now he does)
  7. nope... there's a couple of at least uptempo tracks, but even those lack the great hooks and then the 2nd half just kinda meanders into slow, mellow, and meandering songs
  8. yes... i noticed that too 12 songs, 57 minutes... quite long by indie pop/RW standards.
  9. i hate to say it, but this is pretty dang boring so far maybe this will grow on me... the first 2-3 songs are certainly more solid than the back half
