$80 for NYE??????
-
surprised how great of a review it got from Pfork today even but yeah, def a great record
-
while i'd maybe agree w/ the "safer" comment, it's certainly not aimed at a pop/top 40 audience or anything. it's not like he's gone Coldplay/David Gray. i think the diversity in styles and sound of Bewilderbeast might have been its charm, so by making more cohesive sounding records, it's probably an accurate (if not a tiny bit unfair) assumption that his music has become less interesting. i still regard him as a top notch songwriter though
-
yeah? Damon is a total favorite of mine. while nothing he's done has touched Bewilderbeast (which might be my top album post '00, certainly top 3), his stuff is still generally quite good. i agree that there's definitely a few songs that stick out (The title cut for one), there's not really any songs that i would consider bad at least, which is more than i can say for the last one and Fish.
-
that song is SO over the top and cheesy... i love it
-
hmm... i wouldn't say that at all really...
-
AiH are great
-
best postgame celebration ever? congrats Tigers, keep it going... man a Tigers vs. Padres series would be magical, but i'd take a Tigers vs. Mets series too
-
me too
-
it is pretty sweet maybe i wasn't paying much attention, but it didn't seem like many people gave a shit about their last record, Fuckin A, which i think is as strong if not better than the new one. they're a great live band
-
not too surprised, i still prefer Lifter over THS too for the most part, but THS are off to a wicked start no doubt. not many bands have put out 3 consecutively solid albums in a 3 years span in a long time.
-
i still prefer ther first one for a few reasons, but as for all out rock records, i'll take the new one ever so slightly over SS there's 2 bonus tracks on iTunes, one that name drops The Mountain goats last record and Dillinger 4
-
i went to the first night of the Minneapolis 2 night First Ave stand... it was pretty good... not even remotely close to the best i've seen BTS, but certainly better than their '03 shows when they weren't touring for anything whatsoever. the 2nd night setlist looked a lot nicer though. i was at Eric Bachmann & Richard Buckner that night, and while good, i prolly shoulda just gone to BTS, i had a ticket from April and everything. ah well. the one thing that bugged me so much about the first night, is they played 4 or 5 NEW new songs, like newer than YIR, and they played them all within
-
that they are luckies
-
ah, i guess i didn't see the tracklist, cuz the initial article made it sound like Jack wrote some orchestral music specifically for the project (ie: not all White Stripes songs) i know he didn't play on it, but i thought he worked w/ them on it, my bad. they should clear that up, because it's been the assumption that Jack did have something to do w/ this project on numerous forums i'm on because of that confusing initial PR. thanks, i don't read Pfork's news much
-
i don't get how fans of The Tain wouldn't like The Island really
-
not very good might be better than the last, but their run is definitely over. ah well, Madonna and Source Tags are still amazing.
-
if i had to pick a least fave song it'd prolly be The Perfect Crime... i dunno what it is about that one, but i tend to skip it already. reminds me of Genesis haha it's not awful, but it's not a great track either.
-
if Explosions In The Sky did the music for this too, i'd prolly watch
-
Twins: 1 Frank Thomas: 2 :-/ good game by the A's though, at least it was close all the way up to the last out. Twins gotta get their bats going a few innings earlier tomorrow.

i like maybe 1 or 2 SS songs, so... but Small Sins are opening for them too, and they're pretty good
-
is there a Mpls date on there i'm not seeing?
-
well shit
