nah, but they did walk onstage to the theme to Rocky

well... i'm a "real" Dylan fan, and it might just be my favorite of the 3... they're all really strong though, but i'd say i definitely like it more than TOOM for now (that one, save for a few songs, i rarely listen to anymore). i like that he's having fun, it makes me happy.
-
just finished one full listen... not too bad. certainly not blown away by it by any means though. was hoping for at least one track ala Creepy or Lipless, didn't really hear one upon first listen. definitely a bit more varied musically for them that's for sure.
-
so far it doesn't, but it's not bad or anything. i'm sure it'll grow on me tho, it's just not as instantly catchy.

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

and i'm the opposite... i found her voice absolutely wretched and it honestly made me nauseous to listen to. one of the top 5 worst singers i've ever heard... this new one however, her voice only cracks a couple of times throughout the record, and the Lisa Simpson inflection is almost all gone. Van Dyke Park's arrangements sound stunning.

me three

so pretty. which i could see one of his 2 Chicago shows

been a pretty steady user since it was initially called Phoenix (then Firebird, then Firefox) http://tech.cybernetnews.com/2006/07/26/cy...fox-phoenix-01/ god it's come a long ways in 3-4 years... i've been using the 1.8 trunk (2.0) nightlies for the last 2 weeks and had zero problems, same w/ Thunderbird 2 nightlies.
-
i should check that out... i saw 'em open for the Wrens last summer and dug 'em a bit. i'm a sucker for 95% of Sub Pop's recent output as well.
-
pffft, it's still funny if done right
-
lotta fun seeing him w/ Hot Chip soon, he cancelled earlier this summer
-
there's not much acoustic on this new one honestly
-
Canon A520 and yeah, i'll admit that i deaf got fairly lucky w/ the manual settings at that show at times. shows where the lighting is rarely ever that bright i have a hard time getting much to turn out, regardless of manual settings
-
good idea that sorta makes me wonder... i know TWS fans are pretty hardcore and they'd have no prob filling up the Riv at $80 on NYE regardless of opener, but doesn't seem to me like the Raconteurs have that hardcore of following yet, even including the hardcore TWS fans who eat up anything Jack does. don't see the NYE show selling out all that fast, especially w/ the exact same show over half the price the night before.
-
while that's a decent openerl, $80 is still mad cash for that NYE show imo

Some info on an upcoming tribute to The Band

smaller mp3 version: http://ia301110.us.archive.org/0/items/mmj...01d1t02_vbr.mp3 i think it's great. it's not like The Band weren't pretty haggard vocal-wise a lot of the time anyway. that was part of their charm. -
it seemed to be fairly similiar, yeah... there were 2 songs i didn't recognize, but to be honest it's been 2 or 3 years since i've listened to that first EP, so i can't say if they weren't from that or not.

I've seen these guys 5 or 6 times since '02 and never really been dissapointed... while last night wasn't the best performance i've seen them do, it certainly was the most exciting & memorable. some photos i took... not too bad, considering my camera blows in lower light situations. thank god for manual settings:

they do this on Something Awful and often the results are quite hilarious... same w/ pay to change someone's avatar, or add custom emoticons of their own choice. in addition to user paid for banner ads.
