well the title cut for one is stunning, so if you don't like that, it's hopeless
-
Cale by far for me. and that's not to put down Lou's solo output, but John's stuff is much more up my alley usually. and yeah, i think we can agree that Paris 1919 might be the best all around post-Velvets solo release

new Dirty Projectors album is pretty f'n stunning...

PM Flood Control Patch for Invision Power Board 2.3.6 Released We have received numerous reports from clients regarding spamming on the Personal Message (PM) system in IP.Board 2.3.6 and below. After consulting with reCaptcha (the provider of the captcha system in 2.3.6) we believe that humans are being used to bypass the captcha and then the newly created account is given to an automated script which sends PMs in huge quantities to your members. The patch we have released today introduces a flood control setting to the PM system in IP.Board 2.3.6. This will limit how fast a member can sen

huh... the title track is far from my favorite song on the record... The Outsiders is stunning as is 10:03. i really dig The Greatest Denier too.

Attack & Release is easily my fave BK record (the first one i heard was their debut btw) and my least favorite is EASILY Magic Potion. besides Your Touch and 2-3 other songs, that album is just bordering on dull comparatively. I'd rank 'em: Attack & Release Rubber Factory (although it's awfully close) The Big Come Up Thickfreakness Magic Potion the thing with Attack & Release is, it showed me that they're not a one trick pony like so many reviewers & critics claimed they were by their 3rd record. it was still very much a Black Keys record but they tweaked the formula just
-
yeah... was scratching my head on that one too... not like the Keys have ever been 100% authentic blues music anyway, they've always been a bastardized (albeit GREAT) hybrid
-
i think it's moreso that the first 6 songs (esp tracks 4-6) are my favorites on the record... not saying the second half sucks or anything.
-
just buy the mono box set then! ;P maybe they'll price that one at like $99, that'd be fair imo

i think Abbey Road's stereo mix is pretty damn awesome honestly... certainly for the earlier records i prefer the mono mixes, no question
-
i never dove in and bought any Stones remasters that first time (only have a couple of their records on CD honestly, rest are on vinyl), so i'll have to consider these new ones.
-
y'know i never did either... and now i'm glad i also got all the original CD's for pretty damn cheap at Costco years ago (like $8.99 a piece or something)
-
i'm sure there's still a handful, but until the other 2 remaining members are dead there's always going to be someone doing "quality control". wait until those guys pass and we'll probably see more rare stuff (there's often reasons stuff is never released in any form in my experience).

ah, i wouldn't go by that yet honestly... Amazon also had the prices for Neil's Anthology 1 up for a long time as $450 for the blu-ray and $350-ish for the DVD version and it wound up being $299 for BR, $199 for DVD, and $99 for CD.
-
ditto. i'm only interested in this for the remaster/better sound, anything on top of that is just gravy. but it would be nice if they made one all encompassing mono/stereo box for the nutters like myself to drop $500 on. the comments re: bonus tracks, that's what the Anthologies were for... there's very VERY little out there we haven't already heard yet.
-
where are you seeing the prices for these new Beatles re-issues?
-
boy that one's gonna be flying off the shelves...
-
well we haven't seen the prices for any of this yet either... (and fwiw that Pet Sounds re-issue w/ just the mono/stereo still runs $30, granted it has a DVD) i'm going to have a "wait and see" approach to all of this, as I already have all of the original albums on vinyl + CD. i'll download everything first before I decide to buy anything honestly, cuz i might not be that happy with the sound either.
-
see i don't really like re-issues that include the mono/stereo on the same disc. i prefer to have the tracklist reflect the original release per disc i guess...
-
define "everyone else" i've bought plenty of re-issues where the mono/stereo mixes were seperate discs (and the price reflected this) ie: the Pet Sounds Sessions box set
-
Cloud Cult are not only a great band, but some of the nicest folks around too. glad to see 'em getting some love on here. Ice Palace are a really good local Mpls band as well and i've always dug Margot. bummed our show here on 5/2 isn't w/ them
-
well, to be honest, if they did both the mono/stereo mixes in one giant box, it'd be like $300-400... so there's also that factor but anyone who thinks re-releases aren't anything more than "money grabbing" needs their head checked. no matter who the artist is, it's a way to cash in twice on the exact same music.
