  1. American Analog Set Explosions In The Sky (ok not always quiet, but still) Sun Kil Moon
  2. love this band, especially live need to check out their newest record
  3. i probably go to 75% of my shows a year alone, but of those, about 90% of the time i meet up with someone i know. but yeah, i almost always fly solo
  4. since i'm too lazy to count most of these i'll just quickly guesstimate: Pearl Jam: 35 Guster: 15-20 Wilco/Jeff Tweedy: 20-25 Martin Sexton: 10-15 Ben Harper: 10-15 The Jayhawks: 10-15 Soul Asylum: 10-15 Arcade Fire: 14 Bon Iver: 12 (hey, he's semi-local, lol) Built To Spill: 8-10 Prince: 7 bunch of local artists well over 25x over the last decade
  5. have heard of such situations ala Cat Power, but thankfully the 3x i've seen him have all been good, esp the one last year.
  6. funny (but not very surprising at all) that Jack is a better drummer than Meg
  7. hmm... so far neither song is exactly blowing me away... and i LOVE The Kills
  8. huh. honestly didn't know they were that unknown. their single 'Run Run Run' from a few years ago got some decent airplay over here. one of their members was in a band with Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk years ago too. definitely check out 'Consolation Prizes' and 'Long Distance Call' on YouTube. they're def very poppy, but it's not mindless/top 40 either.
  9. the one part that is weird is how divided the record is... first half is folky and mellower, second half is more uptempo with the horns, etc.
  10. if the production on TN Fire was better, it'd be my second or third fave...
  11. the lyrics on Into The Woods are just horrendous. the song sticks out like a sore thumb as a result and is def the one weak point on Z. as far as MMJ's records... i'd say: Tennessee Fire 8.1 At Dawn 9.2 It Still Moves 8.7 Z 8.5 Evil Urges 7.2 so while EU isn't bad, it's still quite a bit weaker than the rest of their catalog in my book.
  12. not true... REM played Stubbs at SXSW last year (capacity 2000) and the Croc in Seattle in 2001 (WITH Eddie Vedder even ), which holds like 350.
  13. i like it more... and i REALLY liked Ash Wed
  14. i've seen them every tour since the EP and they've gotten progressively better with each. i wouldn't say they're an amazing live band yet, but they are way better than they were on the Cookie tour
  15. gotcha. i didn't see him until a few years ago. passed up a bunch of opportunities when i first moved here in '99
  16. ah the Riv is huge for him, weird. what tour was that on?
  17. did you see these two at the same show? that was the first time i'd seen MMJ, opening for Beth in '02, they blew me away. i actually enjoyed Mayer SOME (just his guitar playing really) the first time i saw him in '01 before his first big album was released. played to a half full small club and i went on the recommendation of a friend (we don't speak anymore ). but i saw that same tour you saw a year later just to see Guster & Martin Sexton (2 of my absolute FAVORITE artists live), and left before John to go see The Shins @ a small bar
  18. i had to sell my 5th row tickets because Neil Young was in town that night... but it was one of the best shows i've ever seen so i don't regret it at all
  19. Everclear ('97, only went cuz my school in Montana rarely got shows) The Police (reunion tour last year... BLAH. biggest waste of $90 EVER) MGMT (i wanted to punch 2 of the members by the end. Yeasayer opened and DESTROYED them)
  20. our love has been rekindled and is stronger than ever before
  21. yeah, if i was to add 5 more, Wilco would def be in there too
