More Jim Gaffigan, less Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia...the world would be a much better place. One of the truest statements ever uttered is: "Dane Cook is the Creed of comedy."

Unfortunately I have not seen a Dirt Underneath show. They're playing Tulsa next week, and it was SUPPOSED to be a DU show, but Spooner can't make it so it's going to be a rock show. But hell, can you really complain about that? Isbell's record is great and so are his shows. I caught he and Centro-Matic in Lawrence back in August, and it was one hell of a night. I was pretty torn up when he and DBT split, but now we have two kick ass bands instead of just one.

Gotta get to bed, 4:30 comes early when you have to milk the cows.

A year and a half ago, the Keys were one of my favorite bands. Then Magic Potion was released and their music started showing up in Victoria's Secret ads. Now, I'm not one of these people that is going to chastise a guy for making a buck, but it just seems like they are moving away from what made me love them in the first place...their blistering semi-traditional blues sound. I remember playing The Big Come Up for my girlfriend, and she said "that guy singing can't be white." Well if you're playing the blues, that's a pretty big fucking compliment. They are just starting to sound a little p

Just got through watching Christopher Nolan's first one, Following. Pretty good little flick.

That is incredible that anyone would actually believe that with Colbert being so ridiculously over the top. That's a pretty sad commentary on the 24 hour cable television "news" channels.

Bingo. I thought Ok Computer was way overhyped until I listened to it dozens of times.

About as witty as Ann is.

The Big 12 is REALLY not very good this year. But at least we're not as bad as the ACC is.

"One of These Days" Drive-by Truckers Pizza Deliverance If I had a dime for every time I heard my old man say one of these days I wouldn't be like my old man today talking bout places that he'd been back in his younger days that he was gonna go back to again one of these days Dropped out of school when he was just sixteen fell right into a tire plant building the very things that make the asphalt sing and put Alabama far behind you I remember him saying that Chicago was a hell right here on earth and twenty five years later I was saying the same thing about Memphis It's no wonder every

Just finished Sweet Francaise. Phenomenal work.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that Donny Douche is an advertising man by trade?? There could be a lot more here than meets the eye. As someone pointed out, a huge "controversy" emerged from Ass Coulter's last appearance on the douche show as well.

New Wes Anderson Film: The Darjeeling Limited
mgsooner replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I think I have felt this way after every Wes Anderson film I have ever watched. -
Speaking of breathtaking masterpieces, Fletch is on AMC right now. John Cocktosenose

Fair enough. That's better than saying SBS is a turd they shat out of their ass.

Mystics isn't very good. I think Clouds is their best album, but I know a lot of people would disagree.

Maybe the two Jays should hook up.

I don't understand the hatred for SBS. Didn't Tweedy say he just wanted to write some simple, straightforward songs? What is wrong with that? Why does everything have to be "experimental" and "groundbreaking" to be good? Who gives a shit??? Just give me an album of rockin' tunes. That's what is wrong with music today. Trying to reinvent the fucking wheel with every god damned album. Give me somebody like the aforementioned Truckers who just go into the studio, rock out, and finish an album in two weeks. Not somebody who sits at a computer mixing for nine months before they can release their al

A lot of people don't like A Blessing and a Curse. I have to admit it was a "grower" for me. Gravity's Gone has become one of the best DBT songs out there. Wednesday ROCKS when played live. And "Space City" is just an unbelievable song. One of the best Cooley has done. I think the new album will have a decidedly different feel, though. I think it will be a return to the Pizza Deliverance/Decoration Day albums. I think the rift between DBT and Isbell started because of this. If you listen to Isbell's solo stuff, it has a very different feel than DBT's earlier stuff. I think there was a big di

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (AP) -- An error in a new law that allows Arkansans of any age -- even toddlers -- to marry with parental consent must be fixed by lawmakers, not an independent commission authorized to correct typos, a judge ruled Wednesday. The law, which took effect July 31, was intended to establish 18 as the minimum age to marry, while also allowing pregnant minors to marry with parental consent. An extraneous "not" in the bill, however, allows anyone who is not pregnant to marry at any age if the parents allow it. Gov. Mike Beebe declined to call lawmakers into special session

Amen, brother. That was one heck of a game. One of the best OU/TX games in YEARS. We're on track to win the Big 12 again. Nice to see some fellow Oklahomans on the board.

The Drive-by Truckers are my favorite band. Words cannot express how much their music means to me. I have seen them live seven times, and I have a policy that I will not miss a show within driving distance. I even flew to Atlanta to see them last New Year's Eve. They play a drunken blistering 3 hour set somewhere every New Year's Eve. Incredible song writing. Incredible musicianship. Incredible story telling. And they are genuinely nice people. I cannot recommend them enough.

I don't know what I can add here that you guys have not already said, other than Centro-Matic is one of my favorite live bands. They put on a phenomenal show.
