Sorry as I remember seeing a thread about this but I can't find it for the life of me. When I open up the explorer for my D: drive, I see two files. One named "extras" and one "read me" file. I click on "extras" and get the following message: To access the bonus content, you need to enable Flash in your QuickTime preferences. Click here for instructions. So I click here. It leads me to a set of instructions: On Windows: 1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel. 2. Double-click the QuickTime Control Panel. 3. Select the Advanced tab. 4. Under Media Types, select Enable Playback O

Radiohead (sort of) Announce American Tour

Bold prediction: the Dallas show will happen the weekend of ACL Fest, and Radiohead will headline that festival. -
I was hoping for a more heavily blues influenced album than Magic Potion was, but I'm not sure this is going to be it. Oh well, I will enjoy it nonetheless I'm sure

I have found or seen no indication that Jay's music is NOT important or interesting to him. Some performers act differently than others do on stage, because they are different people. Human beings are different. Jay happens to be much less animated than what you would see at say a GWAR show. Take the man in your avatar, for instance. Been to a Dylan show lately? If we want to talk about showing more interest, the conversation should start with Mr. D.

I just wish we could discuss the merits of Son Volt's studio work and live performance on their own, without comparing them to JT and Wilco. Oh, to live in a perfect world. Jay is a major league INTROvert. That's just who he is. He's not going to exhibit a lot of emotion on stage. I realize that is boring to some, and believe me I completely understand. But if Jay got up there and tried to act like something different than what he is, it would show and would end up being really, really lame.

I had the pleasure of seeing BOTH isbell and Centro-Matic in Lawrence several months back. GREAT show. Got to see Outfit, Never Gonna Change, and most importantly The Magician which is quite possibly my favorite song of 2007.

Drive-by Truckers - Decoration Day.

I have really enjoyed both Okemah and the Search. Are they what I would call great albums? No. Are they in my semi-regular rotation? Yes. I have seen SV 2.0 (this second incarnation of Son Volt) twice live, and I would say they were good performances. Again, not great, but good. Jay just doesn't interact very much with the crowd or show a lot of emotion on stage. While that can turn off many, that is just the nature of who he is. The one big problem I did have in the most recent show I saw (at Cain's in Tulsa) is that the sound was TERRIBLE. The vocals were muddy as hell. A friend of mine had

I have listened to this through a few times now, and it gets better with each listen. I don't think they will ever make an album that will surpass The Dirty South or SRO for me, but this is a winner. In time I think I'm going to REALLY, REALLY like it. I agree that it is a few songs too many. Bob is pretty hokey, but it's a fun enough track so it can stay. Lisa's Birthday and You and Your Crystal Meth could easily have been left off. 3 Dimes Down is one of the best Cooley tunes ever. It will become one of the best tracks DBT does live. And I could be crazy but I am digging Perfect Timing. C

Cain's. Fuck. Yes. And a Saturday night, nonetheless. Life is good in Oklahoma.

I too watched this and thought it was amazing, although I did find some of Regine's theatrics to be a bit excessive by the end. There's only so much posing and sneering you can do before you start to look like a fool.

New Year's Eve shows - ring in 2008 with ...

I'll be in OKC for the Flaming Lips as well. Got a room booked at the Renaissance right next door to the venue. Be nice to be able to just stumble my drunk ass home afterwards. -
There's a scene in the movie Old School that reminds me of some of the posts in this thread... Luke Wilson: "Excuse me, driver, the seat belt is broken, what do you suggest I do?" Taxi driver: "I recommend that you stop being such a ..." I'll leave that last word out so as to not offend anyone's fragile sensibilities. But the point is made. It's a rock show. Drink it up, smoke it up, whatever. Have a good time. That's what it's about.

Oh, yeah, Drive-by Truckers. Sorry man. DBT is amazing live. I have quite the obsession with them. It really annoys some of my friends.

I have always liked K.C. I've been to a couple of shows there and had a good time both times. I've also been up for some football games and had a good time then as well. It's a nice enough place. I'll go back. I'm holding out for a MM Jacket show at Crossroads. Despite the shortcomings of the venue, an outdoor place like that would be perfect for MMJ. I will say I won't ever be dining at Grinder's.

Sorry, don't agree. Great fucking show. Casino Queen made me jump out of my shoes. The band seemed to be enjoying themselves during the show, and so was I. That's really all I care about. This wasn't as good as some of the DBT shows I've been to, but it was damn good. I loved hearing all of the older stuff. Sure the venue has it's annoyances, particularly the fact that they acted like they were SHOCKED that anyone wanted to purchase pizza at the concessions...like they've never had a show there before. It was like 7:45 and they still didn't have any ready to serve. They said "five minutes"

Oh and it appears the show has now sold out.

GOOD MORNING!!! You just bought Hot Pockets!!! You're about to call in sick.

Umm, so Kelly Clarkson posts on here then?

Since U Been Gone was praised? And wtf at having Astral Weeks on the list

Yeah I guess Magic Potion has just been a big disappointment for me. Rubber Factory was really good. Also, the last show of theirs I was at was a disappointment, but that was more an indictment of the dipshits around me than it was the band. I first got into them when I walked up on their set at ACL 2005 and I was blown away. It is still to this day one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Bout to hit the road in about two hours. I guess I'll be wearin' my noodlin' boots.
