  1. Love it! I bought something pink for Baby Sooie today.
  2. Jen, in honor of your birthday I snuggled a yellow kitty who's up for adoption at Petco today, and then I bought a gallon of Nature's Miracle. We're partying it up, Jen-style, tonight!
  3. That's the god's-honest truth. Be it a blatant suicide, or a slow one through addiction.
  4. That's a beautiful photo, Kate. Em really is the spitting image of him. She got the best of both of you.
  5. What can I say? Some days, it doesn't take much for me.
  6. Okay, that made me laugh until I snorted. I'm going to finish "Bearing the Body" in the next hour (it's a good read). Then I'm starting:
  7. You're very welcome. It was all Jen's idea. She's on the stick with this stuff. I'm also glad that Brad's family has involved you so much. I know that means so much to you, and your support has got to be a huge help to them right now.
  8. Peter and Loretta, much love to both of you today. And to everyone posting in this thread, too.
  9. Sleep A clean house Some more sleep No more deaths until at least the end of this week. And some more sleep. My needs are pretty simple, really.
  10. St. Louis Bikeworks is an amazing program. I'd love to see the photos, too, if you're up to it.
  11. Thanks for the update, Kate. You've been on my mind all day. When you have the info, would you mind sending me the details about the service? Location and such? So glad that your mom's going to be there this weekend. I had a feeling she would be. I'm also glad that Emily's talking to you. I hope that maybe this will be a new beginning for her so that something positive can come from such a tragic loss. Love you guys.
  12. Then I wish I was going on Monday. My concert budget's shot.
  13. A friend of mine saw him a few weeks ago and raved about what an excellent show it was. Wish I was going on Thursday.
  14. Oh, Dunja. Your family has had to bear far more than its share recently. I'm so sorry for your brother's passing. Tragic, indeed. Sending all of my love to you and your family. I hope your brother is finally at peace.
  15. Man, I love ultrasounds. When she yawned at the end, I thought she was trying to lick her elbow. She looks like a wiggly one! How about sticking a pink bow on her head with scotch tape? The first time I saw my kid, that's what she had. I briefly wondered if she came out wearing that thing.
  16. I probably mouthed off, but just don't remember it. My memory sucked during pregnancy and the first year after, so it's entirely possible I was saying the things in my head without realizing it. I did go off on the old woman at Whole Foods who told my then-6-month-old that she needed to go on Weight Watchers. That bitch almost got a six-pack of organic beer cracked over her skull.
  17. The sleep deprivation helped. Made me a little slower on the draw.
  18. I got really good at smiling and nodding and going completely blank when people said shit like this. Yeah, parenting is difficult. We all know that. They do? Then mine's defective!
  19. I packed a bunch of baby junk to send to Jenna during this. None of it's pink.
  20. Mine sure does! She's been pestering her great-grandpa to take her fishing. My kid's favorite color? Green. Favorite animal? Dinosaurs (T Rex, specifically). Loves watching baseball, although my husband and I never do so I have no idea where that came from. Prefers The Clash to Miley Cyrus. She spent a good 10 minutes carrying a live earthworm around the yard the other night. Requested a "spooky spider" costume for Halloween last year. Kids tend to come out with a lot of traits we never expect. And parents tend to develop interests they never thought they'd have, just because their kids
  21. No. Calm down. Oh, that drives me nuts.
  22. If nothing else, at least Oprah has brought readers to books who might not have read them otherwise. Grapes of Wrath, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Love in the Time of Cholera ... read by lots of people just because of that Oprah sticker. Whatever gets people reading and talking about books is fine by me. Adding to my list. Funny, but it seems like anytime I'm considering a book, you recommend it and I add it to the list. That "If You Lived Here" book I was reading last week? Ugh. One step above chick lit. I hate that I wasted my time on it. Horrible. I'm much happier with this:
