  1. If you know how to employ them, I'm sure it would be enough. If you're interested, that is.

  3. No. Didn't even see that. I'll have to see just how much they want for that. (Probably too much.)
  4. Tim (band songwriter/leader) is principled to the point of dogmatic and he has a very definite idea in his head as to what "psychedelic" means. He wants you to be able to improvise, and also to have a pretty extensive pedal board (and complete mastery of said board). It's all about chemistry and being on the same page. And rebilac: oops.
  5. 100% agree! Probably my most-anticipated at this point.
  6. My friend Tim is the leader of a psychedelic band here in Chicago called The Red Plastic Buddha. A damn good modern psych band that's just finishing recording their 3rd album, but are loosing their lead guitar player and need somebody to take his place. reference points: Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd Roky Erickson/13th Floor Elevators The Luck of Eden Hall I am not in this band and not associated with them (anymore -- I was an original member), but I am still friends with the guys in the band and want to help them out. They are a helluva lot of fun to play with and there is tons of room for imp
  7. Second listen to this bad boy and I think that it has a shot at my top 5 of '13. Always loved the Auteurs and am ashamed that I've never investigated anything by Black Box Recorder (I really should) or any of his other solo work (ditto). Seriously, how awesome is this, even in concept?
  8. Now, I've never actually owned one of these, but they are built and sold by a friend of mine. And I believe that Nels uses one--the the rest of his client list is equally impressive. Not sure what your budget is, but might be worth a shot. He's a great guy and I know that he knows his shit. $185 http://www.sarnomusicsolutions.com/products/ed.html
  9. What else am I going to start the day with?
  10. That's because once you start the album, it is damn near impossible to turn it off until the entire thing has played through, sides one and two.
  11. There are very few--like almost none--that I can and do listen to many times in a row. That I feel compelled to play again as soon as it is finished. But this is a thread for your songs... the ones that do this to you. Me? This is pretty much the only one right now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zInf-88f0Hs
  12. I think that this can sum up the whole thread, for everybody. (The sentiment of the song, not the band):
  13. It's a shift in perspective--an attempt at a journalistic approach v. just what you like. As I've stated at least 2 more times earlier in the thread: I am not a big Radiohead fan, just don't really click with me. But, OBJECTIVELY, I can see why they get the critical acclaim that they do. Doesn't mean that I'm gonna listen to them, but I can understand why others do and even why others froth at the mouth over them. And that, my friend, is the point. Can you see it? Even in bands that you don't like? The value? The appeal to others? Why they might like them?
  14. Took a little bit to click for me. I mean, I liked it okay, but never understood why it was considered one of the "great" albums either. And then one day, for no reason in particular, it hit me. "Skin and Bone", "Oklahoma, U.S.A.", "Alcohol", etc... Just... HIT me.
  15. As an instrumentalist, he does. But as a bandleader/songwriter—apart from one album (Layla) and maybe one or two songs from other records—not even a little bit.
