Favorite cooking show: America's Test Kitchen Not being much of a "recipe guy", I find the technique and equipment tips on the show incredibly useful... things to incorporate into my own recipes. That said, I am going to contradict myself immediately, by sharing this salsa recipe that I made last week. Not your typical salsa, this only has 4 ingredients: fresh jalapeños, garlic, lime juice, and vegetable oil. (Salt to taste.) Spicy as hell, but so delicious that I can drink the stuff. http://www.cookography.com/2012/creamy-roasted-jalapeno-salsa

Slow's Against the Glass EP. It's like getting your ass kicked through your earholes. Like, in a good way.

Saving for my dream guitar -- tempted by another
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Solid State Technology
So, my Telecaster, supposedly arriving in early October should now be in... IN 30 DAYS according to the Fender guy! The good news is, I think that I may be able to get them to upgrade the damn pickups for my excessive waiting and constant delays. Fuckers. -

Both of these bands are the same one guy - Kevin Ryan (who also write the excellent Recording the Beatles book). Apparently, he plays and sings everything. I discovered him at Garageband and have not heard a damn thing about him since, which is really tragic, because the guy has the complete package. He writes amazing songs, comes up with incredible arrangements, and can execute it all himself. One of those rare finds. Unfortunately, these 2 songs (and 2 more) are all that I can find from him. Hope you listen and enjoy. RIYL: Jellyfish, Elephant 6, glam-era Bowie, Beach Boys Starbox - Lig

The Bitter Southerner: Southern Soul Review
PopTodd replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Someone Else's Song
I figured that you were familiar with them. We have have even discussed them before. Your buddy John did some very fine work there, although a couple of songs didn't survive the digital transfer very well. -

If you're looking for compilations of overlooked Southern Soul, these 2 are both pretty great: http://www.amazon.com/Birmingham-Sound-Soul-Neal-Hemphill/dp/B001BGJ0L2/ref=sr_shvl_album_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380033632&sr=301-2 http://www.amazon.com/The-Birmingham-Sound-Soul-Hemphill/dp/B000RKKJXG/ref=sr_shvl_album_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380033588&sr=301-1 -
Might take another couple of listens. Like I said, he is a damn good songwriter. But, I guess, sonically, he just isn't twerking my striped pants these days. But I've only given it a single listen so far. So more are definitely required.

I like the new Neko. Not so much the new Jason Isbell. IB is a good songwriter, but not terribly exciting.

Anything that I can use that doesn't require DL? I have a work computer, here.
