Saving for my dream guitar -- tempted by another
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Solid State Technology
Just put down money on the Tele. It'll be mine as soon as it arrives in the shop. Can't wait to get it home. -
THIS is all that I really know about them, and I really need to know more! Just awesome. Really. EVERYONE here should see this.

I love how it goes all bubblegum at around 2:00! Anyone... tell me what you can. I am all ears. This is wonderful.

Today I just found out that he made a new EP available for free download at his site! http://tomze.com.br It's right there at the top of the page. Click the banner. It's classic Tom Zé. Loving it!

I figured that you would be the first one to respond!

This is somebody that I have been curious about getting into for a while now (Orange Juice, too). Seeing that he has a new one, I want to see if any of you would weigh in on it. Did a search and found nothing from anybody yet, so... Here's the AllMusic review from Tim Sendra. All the more intriguing: I know he has fans here. Whaddya know?

Johnny Marr to release The Messenger, solo album
PopTodd replied to Kim Bodnia's topic in Someone Else's Song
Giving this a first listen now and it's pretty cool. Sounds a lot like The Smiths -- even his voice sounds a little like Moz at times. Definitely rings of the mid/late-80s, but in a very good way. Marr's guitar playing really demands close listening, because it's so damn prolific, without being obviously showy. Probably not my favorite of the year (that is still the Shugo Tokumaru album), but it is another winner for 2013. -
Just had one of these last night and it rocked my world: Only a 10-oz. bottle at 5.7% ABV. So, a bit stronger than your average beer, but not crazy strong like a Trappist. The flavor, though... my God, the FLAVOR! Very bitter, with lots of very strongly roasted—heavily roasted— malts. Just enough hops to make sure that it doesn't leave a burnt aftertaste, but a pleasant roast-y thing that lasts just long enough. A great food beer, too. Instantly, it became a new favorite.

Yep. Cyrk 2 actually is more-similar sounding to her debut album, Me Oh My. Have you heard that one?

It's on back order. Should be in by early June. -
Not YouTube, but Hulu. And this is amazing. http://www.boweryboogie.com/2013/04/snl-spoofs-the-history-of-punk-with-ian-rubbish-and-the-bizzaros/
