My favorite live album is actually a bootleg of a show where I was in attendance -- Big Star at Metro in June of 1994. Pick Some Posies and Let's Play No, I am not the guy who taped it but, if you are from Chicago, I can guarantee that you know who it was! A great, spirited performance with all the songs that you would want to hear. The band was tight right up until the last song ("O My Soul") when Alex just seemed to stop caring, and the band's performance fell apart. Aside from that, it was one of the 5 or so best shows that I have ever been to. Glad that somebody was there to document it

Yep. Got those downloads yesterday. Too much fun. I think that I like Fred Armisen more and more each day.

Yeah, the skit was brilliant, and the songs were actually pretty damn good. So, I am pretty psyched that he is offering this free DL of "The Best of Ian Rubbish" Loving it. And I love that he actually got a UK domain for the site. www.ianrubbish.co.uk

Eddie Murphy WAS the poor man's Richard Pryor (back when Eddie was funny).

Beatles isolated tracks (for all the nerds)

I have not read that one but I actually do kinda know Kevin Ryan; at least from back in the day on Garageband.com. He is/was an amazing songwriter and musician whom I am heartbroken that he is not making music any more. Seriously. PM me your email and I will send you one of the few recordings of his that I was able to salvage from the site. Also, as to the book itself, I am just not that big an equipment nerd. It would probably go way over my head. -

That is awesome. And... agreed as to how essential it is? -

AN ESSENTIAL DOCUMENT FOR ALL OF YOU. Seriously, nerds: you must have this book. Too bad it's so damn pricey. It's a diary-type account of every single recording session the band ever did. And, honestly, it is a freakin' page-turner. Got it as a gift. Thought that it was just a bargain bin cheapie that my sister found for me, but when I started actually reading it (forced to by my insomniac 2-year-old), I could not wait to get back to it every night. Amazing stuff. -
Blur is nobody's poor man's anything. And the singer from The Cult is the poor man's Jim Morrison, not Eddie Vedder.

Hey! I LIKE Oasis! (At least the first 2 albums.)

LINK Rest in peace, George Jones, one of the great voices in the history of country music.

Love it. Especially the Harrison vocal on "Something".
