RIYL?

It has been a long time since I read any Ellison. Too long. While I would not describe this one as a "quick read"—it's too painful a story to classify as such—I could not put it down and I did get through it quickly. Nothing like anything else I've read from him. This is the story of the discovery of a new talent in the early days of rock 'n roll, and how his success corrupts the boy and everybody around him. Further cements, in my mind, the author as one of the very best of the 20th century. Highly recommended.

Congratulations!

Just finished dinner... chicken parmesan. It was decent, but as I used a different sauce, not quite as good as usual. Now, to take the kids to pick up the wife at the airport.

I saw that in the paper. And, honestly, that makes me proud to be a Hawks fan almost as much as the win, itself.

Can you say twice in one day? This evening, with the boys, listening to their top-40 station, I won a Justin Timberlake prize pack, including a DL of his new album, and qualified to be entered into a drawing for a pair of backstage passes at a JT show. I need to buy a lottery ticket.

This is amazing. And pretty much speaks for the world.

That last one is actually a band that I used to be in. I was on their first EP, but not this album and I no longer have anything to do with the band, other with the fact that I am still friends with the guys. It sounds to me like you are exactly describing their sound, if you want to look into something new. They have a Bandcap page if you're interested.
